Pop culture does a fair bit to glamourise the 'swimming upstream' approach when it comes to achieving your fitness goals. For busy people, leaning into this isn't advised. It's another fitness fallacy that most people should avoid with a caveat that this is unless you're an athlete or making a conscious choice to take the hard road. Swimming downstream with an imperfect, flexible, and enjoyable plan eventually leads to making progressively more 'intense' training feel fun, at which point your original goals (results, progress, or outcomes) simply become both a product and part of this virtuous cycle.
