Pop culture does a fair bit to glamourise the 'swimming upstream' approach when it comes to achieving your fitness goals. For busy people, leaning into this isn't advised. It's another fitness fallacy that most people should avoid with a caveat that this is unless you're an athlete or making a conscious choice to take the hard road. Swimming downstream with an imperfect, flexible, and enjoyable plan eventually leads to making progressively more 'intense' training feel fun, at which point your original goals (results, progress, or outcomes) simply become both a product and part of this virtuous cycle. The year 2009 and before that, did I know anything technically about fitness? I would almost say 0, though I had done some running and a few gym workouts. But I did not know anything about being fit. Today, for the last 15 years, my learning about being fit has only evolved, very gradually, incrementally, and through real-time experiences. I did only walking for the whole of 2009. Started running in the year 2010. Did the first half marathon in 2012. Did the first marathon in 2014. Did the first ultramarathon in 2015. Running demanded me to be fit though I continued running to be fit. While I had not enjoyed my strength workouts before running episodes, it became an integral part of me being fit, after I fell in love with running. What kind of training do I do for myself to be fit? ✅ Running (short and long distances, speed workouts, hill running, trail running) ✅ Strength workouts (using all equipment - Dumbbells, Barbells, Kettlebells, Resistance Bands, ab roller wheel, Gym medicine ball, anti-burst gym ball) ✅ Yoga ✅ Swimming ✅ Cycling Being fit is a blessing. Being fit is an advantage. Today I can offer that knowledge about fitness to my clients and see them transforming in their fitness journey. You also can start your fitness journey, today. You don't have to hold yourself for any reason. You don't have to go anywhere. You can do all sorts of workouts at home, just with a few pieces of equipment. You only need self-motivation to change your fitness for life. One year from today if you train consistently, even for 30 minutes every day, you can reverse your age a lot.
