Controversial opinion: Double spaces after sentences are fine. Not necessary from a typography standpoing, not correct according to current style guides, but fine. Sure, I don't type a double space myself. Sure, I'll remove the double space when preparing something for publication. It takes less than 30 seconds to do a find & replace to remove all double spaces. But people who type two spaces after a sentence aren't stuck in the past. They just like the way a page of text looks when there is more space between sentences. It's easier on their eyes. It's easier to scan―to skim over a sentence and see if the next one contains what you're looking for. In an alternate universe, they would have won the Terminal Punctuation War and our modern style guidles would call for two spaces. I'd be fine with that, too.
