OVERVIEW ~ Steps to Creating a Fashion Collection: 1. Start with a Mood Board: Begin by creating a mood board to visualize the direction and theme of your collection. For example, if you’re aiming for a streetwear collection, include reference images featuring denim, retro styles, and baggy pants. 2. Develop a Color Board: Create a color board to unify your collection. Include all the colors you plan to use, along with fabric swatches and textures to bring your vision to life. Core vs. Trend Colors: 1. Core Colors: These are the foundation of your collection, making up about 85%. Examples include black, brown, and navy. They provide versatility and longevity. 2. Trend Colors: These make up the remaining 15% and include vibrant, eye-catching colors like electric blue, neon pink, and pastel lavender. These are for statement pieces that attract attention and drive impulse purchases. Balancing Core and Trend Colors: Core colors ensure the collection remains timeless and versatile, while trend colors keep it modern and exciting. Understanding Customer Personas: Consider the different customer personas you want to attract. For instance, soft pink and soft grey might appeal to similar customers, while electric blue could attract a bolder customer. Varying your color choices can help attract a diverse range of buyers. Determining Styles: After establishing your colorways and mood board, determine the styles for your collection. Start with sketches and let your inspiration flow, whether it’s from nature, the sea, or a recent object you’ve encountered. This process will help you create unique and cohesive designs. #Fashion #Style #FashionDesign #FashionInspiration #DesignProcess #Streetwear #MoodBoard #ColorPalette #FashionTrends #TrendColors #FashionCollection #DesignerLife #InstaFashion #OOTD #FashionTips #FashionDaily #FashionLovers #TimelessStyle #FashionJourney #CreativeProcess#FashionCommunity #Fashionista #FashionAddict #TrendAlert #StyleInspo#FashionGoals #FashionBloggers #fashionillustrationoftheday #FashionStylist

Luxury brands so often communicate craft and expertise through perfection: the making of an accessory in a gleaming factory, or at the most, an orderly atelier putting the finishing touches on perfectly conceived pieces. But you can also convey perfection through showing a little imperfection. I love the spirit of this mini-film from SCHIAPARELLI that turns the craft narrative on its head. It conveys the expertise, craft, and creativity at the core of the house by showing everything that didn't make the cut: the ideas that fell apart in fittings, the finished pieces that just didn't work. Have other designers done this before? Sure, but mostly through documentaries (Dior & I, Signe Chanel, etc.) or tightly controlled editorial features, not as official brand communication. It's a risky approach, but one that shows a kind of openness and humanity that adds to a brand's credibility.
