I would like to take a second to remind job seekers about having realistic salary expectations. Company offered an external candidate (mid 20s) with no degree(not a requirement) and 3 years experience over $40 per hour on a 9/80 schedule (plus company benefits and relocation package) for an aviation mechanic role with no management/supervisor responsibilities and they turned it down. That is $70k+ annually, walking in the door. They turned it down because they didn't feel it was adequate compensation. I wish them luck in their future search. #realisticexpectations

"just a fork lift operator" is something that I hear all the time as a staffing professional. While taking orders we find it incredibly important to get as much detail as we can. Nobody is "just a" anything. Every role - every job has responsibilities that need to be carried out. As the Staffing Agency it is our role to know where they are going to park their car when they show up, what to wear from head to toe on the first day, what they will be doing all day long and how they will be doing it... the list goes on and on. Often -> I hear the response, "It's just a forklift operator." Now - watch the video. Would you ever say that the person responsible for this is, "Just a FL operator?" No. What are they driving? Standing or sitting? Driving forward or backwards? And this just scratches the surface. What do you think? Is this "just" anything?

My favorite part about going from the power tool industry to the rental equipment industry: becoming certified and/or trained to operate the equipment myself. 👷🏻♀️🚜🦺🇺🇸 Being able to operate a backhoe, dozer, forklift, telehandler, scissor lift, and more, are things I never thought I’d not only learn to do…but also ENJOY. Shout out to the Sacramento Branch Manager, Yard Crew, Mechanics, Parts Manager, and Service Manager for helping me get up to speed. I feel even more empowered and ready for action than I did before. Here’s to more challenges, learning curves, and accomplishments coming my way. This position is responsible for maintaining proper slump (water content) of ready-mix concrete. Inspects, services, and cleans concrete mixer truck. Work irregular hours depending on customer demands. Start time varies daily. To ensure a successful and efficient work experience, we require candidates to be located within a specific geographic radius: candidates for the Carolina Market must reside within 40 miles of the designated work location . Role & Responsibilities Ability to follow directions, accurately receive, comprehend, and follow instructions from dispatch, including efficient handling of delivery tickets. Drive truck in a safe and efficient manner. Inspects destination job sites to verify the truck can be safely maneuvered. Maintains radio contact with dispatch. Cleans out and rinses chutes and the rear of the truck between loads. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports vehicle condition. Performs daily vehicle maintenance including checking fluid levels and adding fluids as necessary, lubricating as needed, fueling the truck as necessary, and at the end of each day, replacing mud flaps, etc. May assist mechanics with vehicle repair. Wash vehicles with corrosive materials to clean off cement dust and concrete buildup. Occasionally uses a chipping hammer to remove concrete buildup. May be required to remove concrete buildup from inside the drum. May set up and pour retaining blocks, curbs, etc. when returning to the yard with excess concrete. Here are our 3 most recent projects - 1) Auto shop: - They needed to define spaces for single and double parking stalls to help limit congestion - 16 lines of different lengths (~450 linear ft) - 3.5 hours 2) Truck stop: - Client was reorienting their truck stop parking to improve traffic flow and add more spots (also included restripe of convenience store parking) - 107 truck stalls, 37 car stalls (~9,520 linear ft) - 32 hours, phased over 5 days so lot could remain operable 3) Distribution Center employee parking: - The facilities manager wanted to refresh their almost completely faded lines and needed it done in one weekend - 500+ car spaces, fire lane, lots of stencil work (~18,300 linear ft) - Saturday/Sunday, 5 guys (~36 man hours) Check out the video to see job #3 and let me know if you’re curious about any other details…other than price :) Follow along and I’ll share how we were able to land these jobs. #parkinglotstriping #linestriping #linepainting #subcontractor #smallbusiness

THE EMPTY LOADER: Picture it, you have the top of the line equipment and supplies. All the best loaders, pushers, sidewalk vehicles, deicers and more. It looks great in pictures. But, you forgot one thing, the PEOPLE to run it. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😳😳 Ok, most companies would probably not totally forget to hire, but is just having a body in the loader enough? 🧊 Did you build job descriptions and ads that document what each role needs to do? 🧊 Are your operators and crew bought into your core values? 🧊 Did you interview for skill, work ethic and culture fit? 🧊 Did you ask the right questions in interviews to know if the person can demonstrate the skills to do the job? 🧊Do you know how to listen for good answers in interviews that will show you a person is right for the role and your company? If you answered “No” or “Maybe” above, you may be going to work with “empty loaders”.
