I have to be honest, this usually doesn't work out.
One of my previous candidates applied for another position that I am hiring for.
Most of the time when it doesn't work out, it doesn't seem to work out for other positions I am hiring for.
This time it looks like it might be a good fit.
The new position I am hiring for has different requirements and responsibilities and that is the reason why I didn't immediately reach out to them.
But the candidate did apply for the position and I recognized him right away.
My first thought was, I don't think they have any of the right kind of experience because the previous role was different.
Because I thought highly of the candidate, I replied and set up a call.
After speaking with the candidate, I realized he did have the experience that I and the hiring team is looking for.
I don't know who was more excited, him or me?
Again, this doesn't happen often but I feel that it is important for any job seeker to understand this one thing.
✅ If you qualify, then apply.
If you are the right candidate, you will get noticed and in this case we had a positive history on top of that.
It can be frustrating to apply with the same company or recruiter but if the job fits, then apply.
