Today is World Food Day, founded in 1945 by the Food and Agricultural Organisation, part of the United Nations. It's a great opportunity to reflect on the critical role that fresh water plays in ensuring a sustainable food supply. Agriculture, the backbone of our food system, depends heavily on access to clean water. Freshwater is the lifeblood of our farms, nurturing crops, sustaining livestock, and ultimately putting food on our tables. It's a finite resource that we must protect, conserve, and manage wisely to ensure a world where no one goes hungry. In a world where diverse culinary experiences and food choices are celebrated, there's one thing that transcends borders and preferences – a good cup of tea. Being among the food producers is a feeling that cannot be described with words. It is a feeling of pride, satisfaction, and contentment. Walking through the rows of rice plants, seeing the hard work that goes into producing the food that we eat, is humbling. It gives you a newfound appreciation for the hard work that food producers undertake. Food producers are the backbone of our economy, ensuring that we have access to the food we need to survive. They work tirelessly day in and day out, dealing with unpredictable weather conditions, pests, and diseases, just to ensure that we have food on our tables every day. The feeling of being among the food producers is even more special when you are directly involved in the production of the food. As a rice farmer, walking through my farm, seeing the growth of the rice plants, is truly satisfying. It is a feeling of accomplishment, knowing that the hard work that has been put in is paying off. In a world where food production is becoming increasingly industrialized, it is important to remember the hard work that goes into producing the food that we eat. The feeling of being among the food producers is a reminder of this, and it is a feeling that should be celebrated and appreciated.
