🎉 Congratulations to Wellesley Petroleum on #Gnomoria Appraisal Discovery! 🎉 We're thrilled to extend our congratulations to our client, Wellesley Petroleum, and their license partner Equinor on the recent discovery in the Gnomoria Appraisal (35/10-12 S) well in the North Sea, approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Florø. AGRs dedicated #wellsitegeologists played a crucial role in this campaign aboard the #COSLPromoter, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise gathered from analysing and delivering over 200 wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Key Highlights 👇❗ ⚡Discovery size: preliminary estimates suggest the discovery holds between 0.8 to 4 million standard cubic metres of recoverable oil equivalent (Sm3 o.e.), which translates to 5 to 25 million barrels o.e. 📍Strategic location: Gnomoria is situated in an area with multiple discoveries, and the licensees are evaluating the potential for a tie-back to existing infrastructure. 📝 Well details: Drilled to a vertical depth of 3,346 metres below sea level (3,805 metres measured depth below sea level) and terminated in the Heather Formation in the Upper Jurassic. 🌊 Water depth: The site is 363 metres deep. ✅ Operations: The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned. While it was not formation tested, extensive data acquisition and sampling were conducted. This discovery represents a significant milestone, and we are proud to have been part of this successful campaign. https://lnkd.in/dsrTDAnk

Exciting news from the North Sea! Equinor and partners have struck oil and gas in their latest exploration efforts on the Gudrun field. The discovery, made in wells 15/3-13 S and 15/3-13 A, shows promising potential. Initial estimates suggest recoverable resources between 0.5 and 2.5 million standard cubic metres of oil equivalent. That's a decent find that could bolster production in the area. The wells hit pay in both the intra-Draupne and Hugin formations, with varying reservoir quality. While some zones showed thin oil-bearing layers or poor properties, others revealed more substantial oil columns with moderate quality. What's particularly interesting is the 85-metre thick oil interval found in well 15/3-13 A. This kind of thickness can be quite valuable for production. No formation testing was done, but the team collected extensive data and samples. This information will be crucial for assessing the discovery's full potential and how it fits into the broader picture of North Sea resources. It's discoveries like these that keep the North Sea relevant in the global energy landscape. As we navigate the energy transition, these finds provide valuable resources and maintain the region's strategic importance. #NorthSeaOil #EnergyExploration #OffshoreDiscovery #OilAndGas #EnergyIndustry

📢Upstream National News 🗺 Noble Corporation Venturer Arrives in Equatorial Guinea for New Drilling Program 🚢 The 12,000-ft drillship Noble Venturer has arrived in Equatorial Guinea to commence a three-well program for Trident Energy. After completing its work with Tullow Oil at Ghana's Jubilee field ahead of schedule, Noble Venturer is set to drill infill wells at the Ceiba and Okume fields on Block G and the Akeng Deep exploration well on Block S. Previously, Noble Venturer aided Tullow Oil in bringing a production well onstream at Jubilee in April 2024 and drilling a water injector well. Despite initial lower-than-expected production rates, optimization efforts continue. Post-Equatorial Guinea, Noble Venturer will move to Namibia for exploration drilling with Rhino Resources. The decline in oil exploration and production companies in Norway is due to several factors. Maturing oil fields have become less profitable, while rising exploration and production costs, driven by deepwater drilling and stricter environmental regulations, discourage investment. The global shift towards renewable energy and a low-carbon economy creates uncertainty about the future of fossil fuels, making oil exploration less appealing. Additionally, government policies, including higher taxes and stricter regulations, further reduce attractiveness. #norway #NCS #oilexploration #APA2024 #NPD #OD #oilandgascompanies #oilindustry #offshore #oslo #equinor #okea #vårenergi #neptun #stavanger
Norwegian Exploration Update! The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has announced on 6th September 2024 that 21 companies have applied for awards in predefined area (APA) 2024 round. The deadline for applications was the 3rd September, and awards are expected to be announced at the beginning of 2025. The licensing round includes three additional blocks in the North Sea and 34 blocks in the Barents Sea. E&A drilling activity has continued to be buoyant with 40+ E&A well programmes expected to complete in 2024. The volumes are vital to keeping emission intensities low and extending infrastructure life. However, this does mark the lowest number of applicants that have applied for awards in the past ten years, as consolidation on the Norwegian shelf continues.

Wellesley Petroleum has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD) for well 35/11-29 S (Toppand øst) in production license 248 C. Awarded in 2013, this license is valid until 2035. Wellesley Petroleum operates the well with a 30% interest, alongside partners Equinor (30%) and Petoro (40%). The well, drilled with the COSL Promoter rig, aimed to discover petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks. While it encountered multiple formations, the well was ultimately dry and has been permanently plugged and abandoned. https://lnkd.in/dtzidQ6j #WellesleyPetroleum #OilAndGas #OffshoreDrilling #Exploration #NorwegianOffshoreDirectorate #COSLPromoter #Energy #Sustainability #PetroleumEngineering #OilIndustry #Norway #EnergyExploration #OffshoreEnergy #OilExploration
