20th August 2024 Time: What is our conception of time? Some wish to achieve the maximum amount of work in the shortest time. Others simply desire to live a simpler life, allowing time to move forward at a much slower speed. For me, time is a passing commodity which will eventually run out and then someone else will worry about it. I schedule my ‘time’ to completes all those ‘important’ tasks, which leaves me more ‘time’ to do other things, like drink coffee with friends and socialize. I am privileged to live in a society, where my daily existence does not involve growing my own food and seeking shelter every night. I live in a nice house, with running water and electricity. I do not really struggle. My mind sometimes has different ideas, allowing time to drag or disappear too quickly. So, it is perhaps, my perception of time which is at fault and not time itself. In essence, I have too much time to think and worry about the trivial things in life, I do not always appreciate some of the wonderful events which happen and always seem to come in time, to change my day. ‘Time and tide, wait for no man’ (Chaucer, 1395) and on that note, enjoy your time today. https://lnkd.in/eXyX4cwx Chaucer, 1395, prologue to the clerk’s tale, accessed 20/08/2024

🍂Now when the autumn is here, it's the perfect time to slow down and enjoy the little things—whether it's a peaceful walk through fallen leaves, curling up with a good book, or catching up on your favorite show under a cozy blanket. 📚 🔎 But autumn is also a great opportunity to reflect on what we've achieved throughout the year—both professionally and personally. It's worth taking a moment to revisit the goals and plans we set at the beginning of the year. What have we accomplished? What still needs polishing? And what remains untouched? 💭 By understanding the reasons behind these outcomes, we can gain valuable insights. Doing this exercise now, rather than waiting for the year-end rush, can help reduce stress and give us a clearer sense of where we stand. Regular check-ins with our goals (not just in autumn!) can offer a greater sense of control and help us plan better, more meaningful, and realistic objectives for the future. 💥 How often do you revisit your yearly goals? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Weekly Wisdom 23: Live by DO dates, not DUE dates. Key Takeaways: 📆 Do dates are entirely within your control, Due dates are just not! 😬 Living in DO dates helps you establish a realistic to do list for each day. If the intention is DO, you'll be less inclined to bite off more than you can chew ⚖️ Working just to deadlines puts you at risk to suffering by the hand of Parkinsons law, where the work expands to the time you give it. 🏃♂️ If you are working to due dates, then your work is more likely to be rushed or incomplete, and if too many due dates hit all at once, you’re stuffed. Living in DO dates avoids this whole scenario. See you next week, I promise 👋
