It also aims to understand women who experience these side-effects, how their daily life is impacted, how their side-effects are managed, and if more help is needed. This study is conducted by the University of Melbourne and researchers from Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the University of Melbourne, Royal Women’s Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, and King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Sharing this post from the latest work from my friend Monica Marulanda. It is a known fact that early detection saves lives! Cancer screening helps detect abnormalities before symptoms appear, increasing the chances of successful treatment. Routine screenings can detect cancer at its earliest stages when treatment is most effective, emphasizing the need for regular check-ups. But most importantly, access to cancer screening should be equitable, addressing disparities in healthcare access and ensuring all individuals have the opportunity for early detection and treatment. June is National Cancer Survivors Month. There are currently more than 18 million people living with a history of cancer in the United States. Each person diagnosed with cancer faces a unique set of challenges, but one in four survivors reports a poor physical quality of life and one in 10 reports poor mental health-related quality of life. On this day, we honor those living with a history of cancer and acknowledge the contributions of their families, friends, healthcare providers and cancer researchers. Very excited at Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) today to launch, along with our amazing charity partners Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, Young Lives vs Cancer, and Teenage Cancer Trust, our North Star Vision for the sector and the system. Our organisations work with children and young people with cancer every day. We see the huge and lasting emotional, physical and financial devastation cancer often has. Supporting them through this experience is a societal challenge that demands a collective approach, which puts children and young people with cancer and their wellbeing at the centre and shines a spotlight on the complex systems of care, information and support that operate around them. Our innovative research, with Dartington Service Design Lab, has created a shared, evidence-based understanding of what is needed to build a better future for children and young people with cancer and their families, and enabled us to create our North Star Vision. A big and ambitious vision where: Every child and young person facing cancer receives care that’s tailored to them. They feel informed and in control, and along with their families can make knowledgeable decisions about their care and future. They feel empowered every step of the way, facing no gaps in support or barriers to access. They have everything they need from the beginning of their cancer journey, during treatment and for as long as they need it afterwards.
