Does your answer demonstrate that you read the job description and explain why you are a good fit for the position? How many former employees do you stay in touch with? If you haven't asked this during an interview, you should. Why do I love this question? It tells me a lot about the hiring manager. Say yes? It shows me they care about people and employees. It doesn't matter if they're generating revenue for them or not. They genuinely care and want wants best for them. It also shows that the employee likes and respects the manager. Personally, I don't keep in touch with my bad managers and/or the ones who mistreated me. You may even ask to speak to a former employee before accepting an offer. It's a lot easier for them to be truthful vs. somebody currently working for them. Say no? It doesn't mean they're a bad manager. Or a bad person. But I'm more excited to work for somebody that says, "yes." The lesson? If you're trying to understand what a hiring manager is like. There are questions that you can ask. Again, it doesn't mean they're bad or good. But it at least gives you a better idea about who you're going to work for.
