Very few brands have $60,000 just laying around. Not even the biggest brands in the world will be careless with that amount of money. (Well, most of them…) According to GlassDoor, it can cost anywhere between $90,000 - $125,000 to hire one new production professional in the apparel industry right now. Then, when you start factoring in... - Onboarding (avg 2 weeks) - Ramp up time (typically 60 days) - Understanding of your business details (~4 months, if they're great) You're now looking at over half of a year, just to get your new team member up to speed! Take the average senior production manager salary at $110,000, cut it in half to account for that 6-7 months of onboarding time, add typical benefits and that's at least $60,000 to hire a new production manager and hopefully get them up to speed in 6 months. Orrrrr.... You can start tomorrow with Unmarked Street. We have worked in almost every role possible (creative design, pattern engineering, technical design, product management, project management and production management, to name a few). We have extensive factory communication and collaboration experience. And we do it all for a fixed monthly rate that will make your finance team scream with delight! We require almost no ramp-up time, no benefits and have our own processes to get ourselves up to speed with your brand in weeks, compared to months. The cherry on top? When you hire Unmarked Street, you get access to a TEAM of production professionals who already know how to work together to maximize our time and your money. So, the question is: would you rather spend $60,000 on a single person or a fraction of that on a tested and vetted team to come in and help improve production processes for your brand? #apparel #fashion #freelancing #apparelproduction

Do you want to work in fashion but prefer a role on the management side of the industry? Creativity is not the only driver of fashion brands. It also takes business-oriented roles like buyers, marketers, and brand managers to run a successful fashion company. So if you don’t see yourself designing clothes and styling looks, you should look for a job on the management side of the industry. You might be like me for example. When a decade ago I decided I wanted to get into the fashion industry, I was more interested in finding something that could combine my passion for fashion with the management side of it. That’s why I entered the industry in the e-commerce department at Alexander McQueen. But I remember when I was at the beginning of my job search, I could find information about editors, designers, and stylists…but there was very little info about other roles in the industry, including those related to the management side. It was really hard to understand what role in fashion could fit me. That’s why in my latest article, I wanted to give you some clarity about the different fashion management jobs if you are also interested in working on the business side of the industry. Helping People & Brands Tell Better Stories 💫 Personal Branding Expert ✍️ Career Storyteller 💼 Social Media Manager @ Paysafe 📍Founder: NJ's Top Resume Service 🏈🩰 Mom X2
Last night I watched a commercial for Skechers Slip-Ins. If you haven't seen them, they are just sneakers designed to be slipped on and off, but shaped more like a traditional lace sneaker. They have a specially shaped and formulated heel so that it stretches to accommodate your foot without losing shape, but has special heel foam so it's comfy. At first, I thought..."How dumb is that!". Then I remembered how much I actually hate tying shoes some times and how my kids (and my husband) just step on the backs. So, this shoe that sounds so ridiculous and specific is kind of genius. And exactly the kind of perfect fit (pun intended) that I work to achieve with my clients. It's so tempting when you are job searching, especially when coming from a place where you are unhappy or out of work, to put forth messaging like "I'm great at everything" or "I'll do whatever, I can learn!". While these things may absolutely be true, they are not going to get you hired. Job searching is problem solving. When hiring managers or companies post a job, they have a problem and are hiring someone to solve it. When you have an electrical problem, you don't look for a smart guy to solve it. You hire an electrician. The same goes for job searching. The more targeted and specific you can get around the types of companies and challenges you're uniquely positioned to solve for, the faster you'll land in the right role. My MARC branding framework is the guide I use to do this, helping clients show up in a way that is measurable, authentic, relevant, and clear. The buyers of SlipIns have been wishing for a shoe that fit like a traditional sneaker without the fuss of tying laces for years. My clients routinely find roles where the thing they thought was irrelevant in their history is what tips the scales in their favor. Be you. That unique set of skills, talents, and experience is what will ultimately lead to fulfillment. #resumewriting #personalbranding #thejobgirl
