Have you ever wondered what role oil and fuel filters play in a sustainable approach to the yachting industry? As part of the M/Y Moonflower 72 construction, I evaluated the installation of Micfil filters, distributed in Italy by Seven Stars Marina & Shipyard as the exclusive dealer for the yachting sector. This technology presents a concrete opportunity to reduce environmental impact with a relatively low investment. For a maxi yacht, few tens of thousands of euros are enough to install advanced filters for oil and diesel, compatible with main engines and generators, and applicable to any type of vessel. The environmental and economic benefits of micfil Ultra Fine Filters GmbH are significant: ● Greater efficiency and lower maintenance costs: extended oil change intervals significantly reduce service frequency and waste oil and filter disposal. ● Lower emissions: up to 99% reduction of incombustible diesel particles and a 30-40% decrease in total emissions. ● Reduced engine wear: the use of high-quality filtered lubricants minimizes failures and replacement of engine parts ● Fuel savings exceeding 5%, improving performance and extending engine injectors lifespan. These performance metries are backed By certifications leading authorities such as RINA and Bureau Veritas Group An innovation like this not only delivers significant medium-term cost savings but also represents a tangible step toward sustainability. I encourage shipyards, colleagues, and industry professionals to consider solutions like this as part of a collective effort to reduce environmental impact. I strongly believe that the combination of different green technologies can lead to a more sustainable yacht future. This philosophy is also shared within Italian Yacht Masters Association which by the #StearingToGreen program promotes a sustainable approach that can make a real difference in the yachting industry. #italianyachtmasters #yachts #superyachts #captains #environment #sustainableleadership #sustainabilityeducation

Oil filtration systems play a key role in making the yachting industry more sustainable. In this post, IYM Captain Pietro Borgo contributes to #SteeringToGreen, reinforcing IYM’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and fostering a green mindset. This is the case with sustainable oil filters, which help extend oil change intervals. Furthermore, they reduce waste disposal, minimize emissions, and optimize engine performance. Investing in such products not only lowers operational costs but also actively contributes to a cleaner marine ecosystem—a smart investment for a greener future.

https://lnkd.in/dnB3zf9P Did you know ? The dumping of over 200 million liters of biocide antifoul into our seas, which is used to coat boat bottoms, is a matter of great concern. This indiscriminate practice results in the release of approximately 5.6 million microplastics into the ocean per boat each year. It is crucial that we take action to halt this damaging behavior and transition to the use of safe, non-toxic nano technology coatings. We have a responsibility to protect our valuable marine ecosystem, and it is urgent that we implement this change without delay. #marinesustainainability #arivofzellc Arivo Fz LLC Arivo.online Arivo.online

https://lnkd.in/dVpQB8UM 5 ways to be a marine sustainability champion. 1. Choose electric or human-powered watercraft: Opt for electric boats or kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards that do not require fuel or produce emissions. This reduces your carbon footprint and minimizes water pollution. 2. Practice responsible fishing: When fishing, follow catch-and-release practices and use sustainable fishing gear. Avoid overfishing certain species and adhere to fishing regulations to maintain the ecological balance of aquatic ecosystems. 3. Reduce waste and litter: Keep your surroundings and the water clean by disposing of all waste properly. Bring reusable water bottles and containers, and avoid single-use plastics like straws and bags. Additionally, participate in beach or river cleanups to help remove trash and debris from the water. 4. Respect marine life and habitats: Observe marine life from a distance, avoiding any disruption or injury. Do not feed or disturb wildlife and refrain from touching or stepping on coral reefs or mangroves, as they are delicate ecosystems. Stay informed about local regulations to prevent damage to vulnerable habitats and species. 5. Support local conservation efforts: Contribute to the preservation of water ecosystems by supporting local organizations or initiatives dedicated to conserving marine resources and protecting waterways. Donate or volunteer with groups focused on water management, habitat restoration, pollution prevention, or marine education. Arivo.online
