New for 2024: Implementing Mobility Hubs to Reduce Car Dependence in Cities. Mobility hubs are centralised stations that offer multiple modes of transport all in the same place, featuring public transport, shared vehicles, rentable micromobility options and more. As cities move away from emission-heavy modes like private cars, providing attractive and reliable alternatives is important. It has been found that most people would require at least four options of travel at any given time to consider giving up a car, and mobility hubs aim to do just that. This course provides insights from industry experts including; Rebecca Karbaumer from the City of Bremen, Michael Glotz-Richter, and Lorenza Dell’Erba from the City of Bologna. With a fleet of 2,100 green buses, 28 parking facilities, and 7,500 e-bikes, EMT Madrid plays a crucial role in the city's urban ecosystem, ensuring efficient and sustainable transportation for millions of passengers annually.🚚 🤝 In the MOBILITIES for EU project, EMT Madrid is leading the way in electrification and hydrogen use. Through "pilots 3 and 4," the company is electrifying 329 buses and the Carabanchel depot, and testing recharging solutions for Mercamadrid vehicles. Additionally, EMT is implementing a hydrogen plant at the Entrevías depot and introducing 10 hydrogen buses.
