Why are planets and moons round? Curiosity is a key quality I look for when interviewing for new hires. Curiosity can help your technical team because these individuals ask questions that others don’t think of asking. Hire people that are curious and watch the magic these individuals bring to your organization. Planets and moons are round because of gravity. When planets and moons form, their gravity pulls the material in from the center, smoothing out any non-roundness. For example, when our solar system formed, billions of pieces of gas and dust collided, forming planets that became hot and molten. The gravity of the molten material pulled it into a sphere, and when the planets cooled, they stayed round. 

Working at Katalyst has provided me a daily reminder that you don't need to be the smartest one in the room to add value 🤣 I'm sure many of you have seen a lot of articles about the benefits of putting yourself in situations where you are the dumbest one in the room, but one thing I have noticed is that... It is an easy trick to force yourself to trust and rely on those around you. As an engineer, I am always trying to find ways to contribute to technical conversations. But that is not my role. My role is to guide the engineers, not tell them how to do things. If we are all trusting each other to get our own part of the problem done, we will all accomplish more.

Rejection emails are OK. Hear me out. I apply to these positions after thorough research. When its transparent, I check out the principle and orbiting team members. I look for my contemporary EAs to see what their career history is like. I check out the company on Glassdoor and other review sites. If the job description mentions a new software I look that up and familiarize myself. I also check out the office location to make sure my commute is reasonable. I'm not randomly or blindly just clicking Apply. So when I do get a rejection, albeit an automated one, I know that I can take them off my spreadsheet, my radar and move on.
