Fascinating new paper from Brighton and Sussex Medical School about the links between neurodivergent characteristics, emotional regulation, proprioception (knowing where you are in space) and hypermobility. Brain/body connections are not new to me as an Alexander Technique teacher - a key principle in Alexander Technique is that mind and body work as one. Many people learn Alexander Technique because of proprioceptive problems. It helps them reduce the uncertainty about where they are in space that the study mentions. We also work with many people who have a degree of hypermobility (loose connective tissue). So it's really helpful to see how proprioception and hypermobility are connected with each other and with other characteristics and emotions. I'll be interested to see future research as it comes through. #hypermobility #proprioception #neurodivergence #anxiety
