In my reading of “High Reliabilty Organizations” A Healthcare Handbook for Patient Safety & Quality by Cynthia Hennenfent Oster and Jane Braaten they provide a wonderful list of “Nine Critcal Areas for Improving Safety Outcomes” (pg 38) it’s a wonderful go to list… including common sense reminders we often overlook! It includes ideas from many of the thought areas around improving safety ( lean, resiliency , Teaming, and old school quality work) I like the fact that we CAN and SHOULD be familiar with all the tools we can learn and manage situations with the best combination!
