"We believe we deeply understand the desire for adventure and to discover the world on two wheels” - B Govinda Rajan, CEO, Royal Enfield.
The yearning to see the world through the lens of two wheels doesn’t just run deep; it transcends borders as well. And for this, we aim to further expand the world of motorcycle journeys with our global Rentals and Tours initiative. With presence across 60+ destinations in several countries, we urge you to discover more and ride pure.
All you need to do is visit your nearest Rentals and Tours hub, pick a motorcycle of your choice, turn on the ignition, and embark on a ride of a lifetime anywhere in the world.

Would love to do such trips on my own bike, but since the announcement of the Hima 450 only a few trickled into the market and only the base version and Hanle black (no Kamet white). Loads of accessories have been announced as well but until today no dealer can provide prices (yes, I want to know upfront what the full-farkled bike will cost). Will RE do better with the next new bike and make sure that supply of the bike in all variants and it´s accessories for all markets? Only future will tell.
This week I was down at Stockport Interchange with GM’s Active Travel Commissioner Dame Sarah Storey as she shared progress to the media on the region’s active travel mission. (see below)
The Interchange is a £1bn project to completely revamp bus facilities, add a new rooftop park, and provide safe & enjoyable walking wheeling & cycling links to and from the hub, including via two new eye-catching bridges.
We asked Stockport colleagues if we could site the event at the interchange, as it illustrates the role of active travel in linking people to public transport, and the way the overall Bee Network is taking shape to link all modes together.
Almost all of journeys on bus tram or train involve walking at some point - and 44% of people walk to the train station, 53% to the tram stop.
And as Greater Manchester’s Bee Network depends on increased public patronage to make it pay - making the first & last mile easy and pleasant to those walking or wheeling is therefore absolutely vital, not to mention the basic job of connecting people from their home to local shops, amenities, families & friends.
Dame Sarah spoke about a renewed focus on the pedestrian experience in this next phase of the Bee Active Network (the term to describe the walking and cycling parts of the wider integrated system).
This follow an extensive & unprecedented audit of the road network by Transport for Greater Manchester, which has informed a new set of recommended infrastructure priorities which Dame Sarah and TfGM’s walking and cycling director Dr. Richard Nickson, will take to the Bee Network committee this week.
TfGM’s proposed pipeline includes upgrading hundreds of junctions & crossings and creating thousands of new crossings too, especially at ‘points of severance’ ie where quieter roads meet busy ones.
This audit also revealed that overall, GM’s roads are much busier than previously estimated - which is why the report is also recommending a greater level of protected cycle lanes than previously estimated - up 40% to 1,170km.
As Dame Sarah, transport commissioner Vernon Everitt and two Stockport cabinet councillors spoke, they could not have timed it better as a huge tennis-court-sized piece of one of the new bridges was lifted into place behind them, on the banks of the Mersey, swollen from that morning’s rain.
This helix bridge will take people up onto the roof of the new interchange, where the new park is being created.
And that was the other visual theme of the visit - change in action.
There is a huge amount of work being done across the centre; cranes, diggers, lorries, barriers, diversions - and there is no getting away from the fact it is disruptive.
Dealing with the inconvenience of this disruption, having patience for the long game, seems a common theme in the delivery of the Bee Network.
Deputy council leader Mark Roberts acknowledged the impact but said: ‘’Stockport is really buzzing at the moment as the future is really taking shape.’’

Yesterday I was in Stockport to launch the active travel road map that has been informed from a recent audit and report I asked Transport for Greater Manchester to produce. When Chris Boardman MBE started this journey the plan for public transport was being developed and now with the buses returning to public control and plans for integrated ticketing across bus, tram, cycle hire and trains by 2030, it was the right time to look in detail at the direction of travel for the active modes.
One of the most stark metrics in 2017 was that across Greater Manchester, 250 million journeys of a kilometre or less were being driven, this report shows this is down to 150 million and with further attention to facilities for pedestrian and wheelchair users, as well as the necessary protected cycling routes, many more people will have the choice to walk, wheel or cycle their shortest of journeys.
I’m looking forward to sharing my report and TfGM’s audit with the Bee Network Committee on Thursday and continuing to work with everyone involved to ensure the funding and capability to deliver this can be achieved.

This for 3 Key Benefits
Guaranteed Availability and Better Vehicle Selection: By booking your car in advance, you ensure that the vehicle you want will be available when you need it. This helps you avoid situations where, upon arrival, there are no cars left or only more expensive or less suitable options are available.
Cost Savings: Booking early often means you can take advantage of special rates or discounts offered by rental car companies. Prices tend to be lower for early reservations compared to last-minute bookings, especially during peak travel seasons.
Peace of Mind: Knowing that your transportation is sorted out allows you to relax and focus on other aspects of your trip. This reduces stress and helps you better organize your time and plans without worrying about securing a car when you arrive.

Pedestrians and Cyclists Reign Supreme in Copenhagen
Copenhagen Road Safety & Active Travel Series - Post #12
We can always find room for improvement, even in the best examples—but you get the idea.
In Copenhagen there is a pecking order. It is pedestrians, then bikes, then cars! We can see how intersections are designed to give priority in such a way as to maximise safety. The line of sight plus the timing of the traffic lights enable pedestrians and cyclists to get a head start and be as visible as possible.

About this series:
Over the next 3 months, we'll share curated snapshots of Copenhagen's streets and urban environment. Our goal is to bring more road safety and active travel learnings to Australia/New Zealand. Stay tuned!
Before 1962 Copenhagen was a city dominated by cars. Since then, the city has evolved to become one of the most pedestrian and cyclist friendly places in the world. Apart from Australia’s royal connection with Denmark, several Australian cities have been strongly influenced by Danish approaches to urban design. Seeing is believing and the snapshots we’re bringing you provide an opportunity to imagine what is possible.
