I’ve participated every year in triathlons since 2011, and here’s what I've learned: I started engaging in sports at a very young age, and I can confidently say that the principles I've learned through physical activity have laid the foundation for my development. Why? In any sport, two fundamental traits are essential: discipline and stamina. Interestingly, these are the very same characteristics that are crucial for success in any endeavor. There will always be new challenges and tough decisions that require your attention. However, with the right mindset, overcoming these challenges becomes easier. One key aspect of dealing with challenges is the understanding that you can rarely handle them on your own. This is one of the reasons I have a deep appreciation for team sports, particularly basketball. It teaches you the power of collaboration. How do we unite as a team and then turn the game in our favor? We learn to harness our collective energy to achieve success. When I apply these principles to our businesses, one element must never be forgotten: Basketball is a game, and games should be enjoyable. Engaging in something that brings you joy and aligns with your passion leads to improved performance, driven by greater effort and unwavering dedication. It offers a sense of fulfillment. So, amid all the hard work and discipline, never overlook the importance of having fun as a team. 😉 What kind of sports do you engage in and what have you learned from it?

What brought you to this company? The Newtron Group, LLC 2.) What's the best thing about your job? I believe I have the best job as I get to do "right" by employees and the company. This makes me feel good everyday. 3.) Who or what motivates you? I'm motivated by the success when people can do their job and go home safe to their families. 4.) What's the best advice you've ever received? I had a mentor once tell me the opposite of net-working is not-working... he understood the importance of professional relationships. 5.) What's your favorite quote? "If you don't think it's safe, it probably isn't." - Jerry Smith 6.) What's your favorite sports team? Dem Bayou Bengals - Geaux Tigers! 7.) What's your favorite tv show? I'm a fan of outdoors and survival shows like Alone and Mountain Men. 8.) What's one item you can't live without? Of course my phone. for my family and my job, I need to be available. 9.) What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I enjoy watching my 3 sons in sports and play a few myself. 10.) What's surprising or a fun fact about you? I lived overseas for 11 years and became a decent rugby player.

We are not a family. We are more like a professional sports team. It's an interesting paradigm shift. But, I believe, an appropriate one. I always cringe a bit when I hear leaders describe their culture like a family. Let's be honest. Would you take 9 months off work to care for a sick co-worker? In most cases, no way. You may contribute to a fund to support their care. Or show other signs of support. But YOUR family comes first. And we reserve those types of measures for family. So, let's call it what it is. It is far more akin to a professional sports team. A group of (hopefully) high performing, well compensated professionals assembled to achieve one common goal. We practice. We watch tape (figuratively speaking). We rely on each other. We support each other. We have expectations of each other. We take care of ourselves, so we can be there for each other. We win together. And yes, we sometimes lose together. We are not family. We are a professional sports team. When you unlock this mentality amongst the group, things really start to happen.
