Lyra 8 + Ornament 8 = 🤯🎶. Been jamming nonstop with these two, discovering how versatile they really are. They're not just for noise (though that's fun too 😜). Think of this: otherworldly ambient soundscapes, creepy movie soundtracks or horror video games soundscapes, even unique melodies. Spent the weekend diving into the Ornament 8's logic. It's surprisingly mathematical 🧮 (but in a good way! 😉) and can be tamed to create incredibly intricate patterns. But the real magic is in its unpredictability - the way it generates melodies through impulses and collisions is just pure sonic gold ✨. #sounddesign #musicproduction #experimentalmusic

This object is a video game from 1982. Its purpose was to function as an interactive movie disc game which could be activated by inserting the disc into a VidMax product. The game could be played for hours, as 16 different mystery stories, each with a puzzling solution, could be played preferably by two or more players (great for parties/teams). The art of the cover makes great use of color and line, whether that be crisp or blurred. The vivid color choices and pop art-like qualities are telling of the popular artistic styles of the 80s. Today, National Film and Sound Archive of Australia is publishing a world first: the findings from our International Video Game Preservation Survey, a global survey that we opened late 2023 in collaboration with The Strong and with the support of British Film Institute (BFI) National Archive. For the first time, we can report baseline data on the current landscape of the global video game preservation field, and hear direct from the international organisations undertaking it on the key issues, obstacles and long-term challenges facing the industry. It is a crucial time for the field and the survey findings are stark. Video games are now one of the pre-eminent cultural forms worldwide but much of their history has become inaccessible because of barriers to access, lack of financial and staff resource, and lack of institutional recognition of the format.
