Going the extra mile to help his community 🚗💖 For over 13 years, David has been a Volunteer Driver with our Fife transport service helping people get to vital hospital appointments, who would otherwise struggle to get there and possibly miss their appointment. “It can be very stressful for people who don’t have access to transport. Our help definitely has an impact on the health of the people we support. I get a lot out of volunteering personally and would say everyone should give it a go.” 🙌

In a world where the pace of life often seems relentless and everyday pressures weigh heavily on us, the concept of giving back might seem like a luxury rather than a practical necessity. However, growing evidence suggests that volunteering at nonprofit organizations like Daystar Life Center not only enriches the lives of others, but can also significantly enhance your own longevity and well-being. There are many compelling reasons why engaging in volunteer work might be a key to a longer, healthier life. Three Things About Making a Positive Impact on Your Community: 1. Everyone is GREAT at something! Chances are you're great at any number of things. Share your gifts with the world. 2. Someone, somewhere, is looking for someone just like YOU. Non-profits, community associations, and other worthy causes need volunteers, perhaps now more than ever. All that's missing is you. Take your specific skill set and strategically apply it. There are an infinite number of ways to volunteer. 3. Volunteers make the world go round. Without a doubt, the most incredible people I have ever met, I have met while volunteering. People who put the needs of others above themselves, who give much more than they take, who not only want to see change but are the change they want to see. Those are the kind of people you want to surround yourself with. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

5 Lessons I’ve Learned as a Community Volunteer Over the Years 🔥 Passion Fuels Persistence Community volunteering isn’t just charity work; it’s driven by a passion for change. It’s the passion that keeps you going, even when challenges arise. 🤝 Work with the Willing Not every volunteer will show up or be dedicated. Don’t be disheartened. Focus on those who are committed and ready to make a difference. 🌟 Intentional Impact Aim for lasting change, not just a successful event. Being intentional about your impact ensures that your efforts leave a long-term positive mark on the community. 💖 Emotional Intelligence Matters Approach the community with kindness and respect. Your words and actions should make people feel valued and important. Be intentional about making the people feel warm. 📚 Knowledge is Power Be well-informed about the program you’re running. Know the details and stay open to new situations. Such preparedness helps you handle any challenges that come your way.

Volunteering at the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless’s Sort & Pack event was nothing short of epic! Seriously, seeing everyone—from kids to grandparents—come together to support one cause was just fantastic. I mean, who knew packing backpacks could be so motivational? Helping a community like LICH keeps me going; I could tell everyone else felt the same energy. Now, let’s talk about the heat. I haven’t sweat that much since…well, ever. It was like Mother Nature decided to throw in a free sauna session! But honestly, it was all worth it. The thought of someone out there smiling because of the backpack I packed? Priceless. I can’t wait to do it again at the next event—hopefully, it’ll be a bit cooler! Also, a big shoutout to our Jovia Financial Credit Union team members, who, internally throughout the organization, helped collect over 1,300 individual school supplies and to everyone who came out to help sort & pack those supplies. There’s a reason they say there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team’—it takes all of us together to make a significant impact, and we did a great job together. #CommunityEngagement #VolunteerExperience #NonprofitSupport #HomelessnessAwareness #Teamwork #CorporateSocialResponsibility #JoviaFinancial #LeadershipInAction #MakingADifference #SocialImpact #EmployeeVolunteering #GivingBack #CommunityOutreach

Weekly Thought: Embracing the Season of Giving The holiday season is a beautiful reminder of the power of giving—not just gifts, but time, kindness, and support. Small acts of generosity can make a world of difference, whether it’s lending an ear to someone who needs it, volunteering, or simply offering a kind word. One of my favorite quotes is, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” (Anne Frank) This week, let’s look for opportunities to give, even in the smallest ways. How do you plan to spread kindness this holiday season? #WeeklyMotivation #SeasonOfGiving #KindnessMatters #LifeAdvice
