At the center of ROYC Group is our remarkable team, capturing the true spirit of our company. Meet Aram Eskandari, our talented Data Engineer at our Stockholm Office. 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝. I studied Engineering Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology where I developed a foundation in problem-solving and analytical thinking. The most important thing I learned during my studies was that you can solve whatever you put your mind to, as long as you’re willing to work for it. During my final year I founded an AI startup which allowed me to dive deeply into the world of machine learning. It was a fun time experimenting with different algorithms and data-sets. After that, I gained valuable experience working as a Data Analyst at Carnegie Investment Bank and as a Data Engineer at Klarna. These roles helped me hone my skills in data management, analytics, and engineering. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐎𝐘𝐂? One of the most fun aspects is seeing the solutions we build evolve over time as our knowledge in the space and the project requirements develop. There is always more to learn in a fast-paced environment like ROYC Group, and the continuous learning opportunities make every week fulfilling. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮? The challenge of creating powerful and automatic systems that are efficient yet easy to maintain and use. I believe that writing future-proof, maintainable code is essential for long-term success and innovation. Working in a sector ripe for disruption through innovative technologies is very exciting. I am passionate about leveraging these technologies to make a significant impact on the private markets, while collaborating with a diverse team of engineers who share a drive for positive change. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤? Exploring new emerging tech through personal projects is fun, but to really unwind I like spending time with friends and family. Whenever I have some time left over I either read books, play games or watch whatever is on the “popular TV shows” list on Netflix. I also watch Premier League religiously, and as an Arsenal fan we had an unfortunate weekend being 2 points away from champions, but there is always next year! #Tech #ROYC #Innovation #WealthManagement

Why I left my VP of Data Engineering role at Walker & Dunlop to co-found HelloData.ai From the outside, you could say I was living the dream at 25. I had already been part of a startup acquisition and was VP of Data Engineering at a publicly traded company. So, why would I trade in stability to re-enter the world of startups? (It’s a question my family sure asked!) Here’s the answer: Pace and Passion: In the startup world, I thrived in the fast-paced environment, constantly pushing boundaries and innovating. In big companies, everything just takes longer. Everything requires discussion and approval, even for seemingly simple tasks. It was nice to have fewer fire drills, but after a while, I longed for the adrenaline rush of overcoming new challenges daily. Building vs. Maintenance: In my corporate role, I felt my creativity was underutilized. I was mostly maintaining existing systems rather than building new ones. There's a distinct thrill in creation and in turning new ideas into reality, which I really missed. Career Trajectory and Skill Growth: Looking ahead, I didn't see an appealing next step in my corporate path. I could manage a larger team or get “Senior” in front of my VP title, but what I valued most was continual learning. I wasn’t developing new skills fast enough which was a feeling I couldn’t ignore – it was time for a change. The AI Inflection Point: With AI just beginning to transform industries, I saw an opportunity I couldn't miss. I wanted to be at the forefront, not watching from the sidelines. Co-founding HelloData was my way of embracing the fastest-moving field in tech, bringing my own ideas to life, and contributing to an industry reshaping our world. For me, the risk of stepping out of my comfort zone was a big one, but the risk of becoming complacent was even bigger. I knew I would regret not having tried more than anything. So I took the leap! At HelloData, every day is a new challenge, a new opportunity to innovate and grow. Here, I've found my passion, pace, and purpose.

Dealing with today's big problems, like climate change and shaky economies, means we need new, clever ideas. And for these ideas, we need to learn new skills. ✨ 🔎 Right now, technology is changing really fast. Because of this, about half of the skills that workers have will need to be updated in the next five years. 💡 By 2027, about 6 out of 10 people will need to learn new things. The most important skills to focus on will be thinking creatively and analytically, and getting good at using AI and big data. 📢 Joining this mission, SkunkWorksDen is on a quest to help bridge the skills gap across various industries. Let the games begin! 📚 🧠 🎓 💣 💥 💪

There are many companies in the AI space, but very few are looking at the hardest problems of building AI applications and the infrastructure required to power them. TitanML is one of the few. And inference servers a concept that must be on your radar. Have you heard of inference servers before? Do you use one? Without an inference server, anyone working with AI in production must build caching, queuing, governance, lineage, and so much infrastructure to serve their AI models. Downloading your favorite open-source model from HuggingFace is the first step to having a robust AI app on production. Inference servers are in no VC landscape yet, but pay attention to the space. This will be a dedicated category akin to the explosion of vector database providers we saw in the last few years. And it is catching significant interest from the big players in the space, such as HuggingFace or Nvidia. Titan offers a fantastic product for organizations building AI apps and valuing robustness, performance, and control of their data. I share the team’s vision that open-source models are the way forward. We will deploy our LLMs on-premise or at the edge on the device. It was, therefore, a no-brainer to come and join Meryem and the team to help bring TitanML to the next level. How is your organization deploying its AI applications?

I'm rapidly approaching my first 4 months at Infer. 4 months at an early stage startup is actually quite a long time as so much happens! I've learned a huge amount so far and feel like I've developed a ton of new skills during this time. There really isn't a better place to broaden your domain expertise than at a startup where you get to wear so many hats. I've put together a video on some of my lessons learned. To summarise: Pre-seed is very different to Series A! Narrow is better than cool. We've transitioned from a broad data science platform to a hyper focused revenue intelligence product. This change in positioning has been huge for us There's power in community. Having chats, going to events, just speaking to people without ulterior motive has been so valuable. Outbound has dramatically changed. I took a year out before joining Infer, during this time the access to AI has fundamentally changed outbound. There's so much noise (and most of it is really not great) which puts extra focus on doing it right over doing it loads In-person is the winner. I've been to a fair few events during this 4 months and it's been so so helpful to actually build some kind of connection with people. I'm planning on recording and posting more videos to share the journey we're on, helping people get to know what we do and why we're doing it. But bear with me, the first few may be a bit clunky 😂 Big thanks to the amazing team we have at Infer. We're really onto something special and I'm looking forward to seeing what the next few months hold!
