📣 We are kicking off the week highlighting one more of our EU-funded projects: WINDTWIN. EPRI Europe has joined a collaborative consortium of 13 organizations from seven EU countries, with the mission to transform wind energy management. WinDTwin ambition is to revolutionize how we forecast wind energy, improve power production, and optimize energy demand predictions through a cutting-edge Digital Twin platform that will serve as a central hub for decision-makers, offering access to a suite of high-quality resources, models, scenarios, and visualisations. 🔎 EPRI Europe's work will focus on strategic maintenance planning and operational optimization to improve wind turbine reliability and efficiency and modelling of interconnections to ensure grid stability and support the integration of renewable energy. Our experts will dive into short-term energy demand and electricity price forecasting and study energy needs along the coasts of Portugal, the UK, and Germany. Through WinDTwin, we’re not just enhancing wind energy forecasting; we’re shaping together a sustainable and resilient energy future for Europe. Last week, Gazelle Founder & CEO Jon Salazar presented at the 2024 Lisbon Energy Summit. Hosted at the Lisbon Exhibition and Congress Centre and attended by 3,000 visitors, the Lisbon Energy Summit is recognised as one of Europe's leading energy sector gatherings, bringing together ministers, policymakers, project developers and investors from around the world. The section of the event that Gazelle joined comprised of a presentation and panel discussion, exploring the technical and investment challenges in the floating offshore wind economy, and driving forward vital discussions. During the event, Jon’s colleagues on the panel demonstrated the power of local collaboration. To develop Gazelle’s demonstration project in Aguçadoura, Gazelle has worked closely with WavEC, who have provided the necessary MetOcean data for the project FEED; CorPower, with whom we’re exploring opportunities around location sharing, anchoring and efficient use of existing infrastructure; and OWC’s Delta Wind Partners, who are using their Wind Turbine Generator experience to provide the Vestas 2MW unit, along with installation and commissioning services. Jon's presentation highlighted that, by incorporating local capabilities, Gazelle’s innovative design can overcome the major challenges for floating platform and mooring systems and thus reduce costs across the supply chain.
