In 2021, I encountered a situation that sparked a crucial debate in the realm of hiring practices. While assisting a client in establishing a Technical COE team in India, we encountered a qualified candidate who seemed perfect for the role, except for one perceived flaw: a three-year career break to be a stay-at-home mom. Despite her impeccable qualifications and dedication to skill development during her break, our client hesitated due to this gap in her employment history. But should a mere gap overshadow one's abilities and potential contribution? The candidate had utilized her break to care for her newborn child and ailing parents, all while honing her skills through certification programs. She was transparent about her sabbatical on her resume and during the interview, yet her commitment and capabilities were overlooked. This incident prompts a crucial question: Should a gap in employment automatically disqualify a candidate, especially when they possess the necessary skills and attitude for the job? I firmly believe that a gap in employment should not overshadow a candidate's abilities or potential. As professionals, we must recognize the diverse paths individuals take in their careers and appreciate the valuable experiences they bring, regardless of any breaks they may have taken. I invite you to share your thoughts and experiences on this matter in the comments below. Let's continue this discussion to exchange insights and foster a more inclusive approach to talent evaluation. #careerbreak #employmentgap #hiringchallenges #worklifebalance #inclusivehiring #diversityequityinclusion #diversityequityandinclusion #talentacquisition #talentattraction #talentdevelopment #Deploi #DeploiBusinessServices

2023 was a tough period for #job seekers in IT. This happened because we witnessed huge demand in 2021-22 resulting in huge hiring. Most likely this year also will be weak for new joiners. #College campuses will struggle on hiring front. We will see a revival in 2024 second half. However, there is excess manpower in companies. If there are no new challenges in global economy, we will see a better 2025 for IT aspirants. At the moment there is no change however sentiments are improving!

Encountering challenges while recruiting candidates through campus hiring drives is not something new. “If I don’t have a big pipeline of candidates, then it gets tedious for me ki ek ko to maine kar liya but if he/she hops off, then doosra mere paas kuch hai nai option”, remarked Ankita Parihar, Senior Executive - HR at Expenzing, upon being questioned about her campus hiring experience. For this episode of apna’s TalentTalk, we’re thrilled to discuss with Ankita the challenges recruiters face while hiring freshers from campus drives. How do you tackle such hiring challenges? Share your thoughts in the comments. #apna #acceleratingindia #talenttalk

Hey everyone! While scrolling through LinkedIn today, I came across some fascinating insights in the LinkedIn News India page that I just had to share with you all. As an MBA student specializing in Business Analytics, I'm constantly intrigued by the evolving trends in the job market. Reports from HirePro, GetWork, and The Economic Times paint an inspiring picture of the changing landscape of campus recruitment, particularly for female candidates. GetWork's recent report caught my attention, revealing a remarkable 116% year-on-year increase in placements of female freshers in 2023, with 5,012 placements recorded in tier 2 and 3 colleges. Can you believe that? It's AMAZING to see such significant progress in just one year. What's even more exciting is the diversity of roles that female students are embracing. From Operations and HR to Software Development Executive positions, there's a clear shift towards gender-neutral job opportunities. This reflects a broader trend, where women freshers are increasingly exploring roles in sectors like BPOs, professional services, IT, and BFSI. It's truly inspiring to witness these barriers being broken down. Rahul Veerwal, CEO & Founder of GetWork, rightly points out the role of hybrid work cultures, inclusive policies, and AI tools in empowering women to seize these opportunities. It's a testament to the power of innovation and inclusivity in shaping the future of work. As we delve deeper into the data and facts, it's a WOW moment to see a 7% rise in campus placements at tier 2 and 3 colleges nationwide. This signals a growing trend of opportunities for students beyond the traditional Tier 1 institutions, opening doors for talent from diverse backgrounds and regions. Looking ahead, Rahul Veerwal Sir predicts exciting prospects for freshers, particularly in sectors like BFSI and Healthcare, with Engineering, Manufacturing, Process, and Infrastructure (EMPI) sectors expected to witness unprecedented growth. It's an exciting time to be entering the job market, and I'm thrilled to see what the future holds for all of us. Together, we can create a future where talent knows no boundaries, and opportunities are truly limitless.
