Proud to celebrate our recent visit from Ofsted which confirmed South Tyneside Works retained our 'Good' rating. Ofsted inspectors found learners "value and enjoy learning new life skills" throughout their training. They agreed that most learners - including those with additional needs - achieve well and a high number develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours that they need to secure employment or move onto further study. The Ofsted report says: "Learners benefit from effective careers information, advice and guidance which enables them to make informed choices about their next steps and future careers. They attend talks from employers about career options in different sectors, including the opportunity to progress to an apprenticeship or other employment with training. Teachers support learners effectively to improve their skills in applying for jobs, including producing a good-quality curriculum vitae. Learners aged 16 to 19 years attend helpful careers sessions with well qualified staff about their aspirations and the opportunities available in the area. They are very positive about the quality of guidance they receive. Learners also take part in relevant work experience or other work-related activity throughout their course." Vice Chancellor of Caleb University, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie (middle) flanked by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Innovation, Strategy and Administration (RISA), Prof Olalekan Asikhia and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Sunday Adewale and Dr Maria Adeyemi conducting a mock job interview for one of our graduating students. Each of the selected students faced real-life questions with no emotion allowed as their peers watched. We all later reviewed their performance. It was part of a larger program, Caleb Graduate Employability Fair, where we expose our products to the reality of the world of work. They are also going to interact with Chief Executive Officers of select organizations. Two lessons from this: 1. If you are an employer of labour looking for prepared hands, you should be thinking of products from Caleb University,Lagos. 2. If you are a parent seeking where your child can get quality education, or you are an individual looking for a good school, then start thinking about Caleb University Lagos. Want more answers? I think it's safe to say we all remember those moments in school, college or university where you suddenly realise it's time to begin seriously considering what comes next. It’s rarely an easy decision and of course many people change their career path entirely, but it does remain important to (excuse the cliché..) make you happy. National Careers Week (NCW) provides young students and graduates with the best resources, guidance and support. 🤝 On 4th-9th March, NCW falls at the perfect time in the academic calendar to aid in building awareness and enthusiasm for young individuals when choosing their next step. At Novatia we make sure to support graduates and young professionals with our Junior roles where they’re able to join the Novatia family and learn from our more experienced team members, helping to shape their future. 📈 As well as internal training support, we also support our young staff in acquiring professional qualifications. Our recent Junior IT Project Manager role has provided the opportunity to obtain: Health & Safety – CSCS and SSSTS PRINCE 2 project management To finish, we’d say to all of the graduates and young people thinking about their next step, just remember we’ve all been there and the decision is not the be-all and end-all! #NationalsCareersWeek #CareerGuidance #SkillsDevelopment #CareerSuccess

I had the privilege of moderating a panel discussion with industry experts during the placement officers’ training for Govt ITIs. The session focused on how collaboration between ITIs and industry can drive the career development of ITI trainees. We explored key topics like emerging industry trends, how trainees can contribute to industry growth, addressing common skill gaps, and enhancing the placement process to better meet industry demands. The insights shared by the four industry experts were incredibly valuable for the placement officers, who play a crucial role in guiding students towards meaningful employment opportunities. Excited to see how these learnings will shape the future of placements in ITIs.
