True leadership is all about building space for the next generation of leaders.

"If the nonprofit sector is serious about making space for a new generation of leaders to come in and actually lead, then let them lead," says young leader Sim Bilal. "Listen to your employees. I don’t care if they’re interns. We really need to challenge these hierarchies that haven’t worked for us." Bilal joined the Chronicle for a roundtable discussion to listen to four young leaders who are eager to transform society, but also want to change nonprofits and philanthropy. Community service and giving back have always been close to my heart, and at Adaptive Networks we believe that our success isn't just measured by our business achievements but also by the impact we make in our community. Alex Jarrell how do districts get more funding!!!? I loved your piece in The 74 about Federal-Philanthropic partnerships. This is a funding strategy that I had not heard about before, and it’s particularly relevant given the looming fiscal cliff. In the article you described setting up these partnerships when you worked at the nonprofit NSNO with the aim of supporting local schools. My question is, how can K12 district leaders proactively foster these sorts of partnerships themselves?
