Glad to share that the paper I presented at AESOP 35th Annual Congress in Lodz is now available in the Books of Proceedings (Track 13, pp. 1490-1503). Here the link: https://lnkd.in/d4QEgw2p The paper, titled 'Beyond the rhetoric. Planning theory in the age of technology', unfolds from my doctoral research on scientism in spatial planning and urban decision making.

Having heard a little about Susan’s research plans already, I will be keen to hear more about her #BLA24 conference presentation on business systematic reviews. A really important topic, and close to my heart! Sad not to be attending BLA next year, but can’t do everything (I do have another conference opportunity coming up) and hopefully others will be posting online - I’m hoping to see some posts here, and perhaps on BlueSky… #systematicreview #librarians #conference
More member papers announced! The 4th member paper will be presented Susan Smith from Cardiff University. More details in the provisional programme: https://lnkd.in/eMmBPiEU 📢 book your place at the #BLAConference: https://lnkd.in/e7cGxhk4 by 31/05/2024 #BLA24

My experience as one of the people in an earlier cohort of a course like this is that it's a bunch of real information about real stuff that we don't have good science about. I don't know of anyone whose done a sincere deep dive into this subject and rationally came away with the perspective that there isn't a "there" there. Most people just won't take the course because they don't wanna deal with the paradigm shift. That's not the same as there not being a "there" there. Speaking of paradigm shifts, here's the latest issue of my newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eMYX4Ctj

There are a lot of hidden histories in education that we still need to uncover and, to borrow loosely from Paulo Freire, you are the best expert in your own history within education, so what missing stories do you think need to be told? Why not tell them yourself? Help the Organization of Educational Historians tell the missing stories - attend the “From Prosposal to Publication” session and learn more how your work can help restore history within the history of education that we have missed. #History #Education
Mark your calendars! Our second annual virtual workshop "From Proposal to Publication" is Saturday November 16, 2024 from 10am-12pm EST. Graduate students, junior faculty, and anyone interested in learning how to transform your OEH conference proposal to a manuscript submission to The American Educational History Journal are encouraged to attend! Please register here https://lnkd.in/eKD8sQdp and email OEHMembershipcoordinator@gmail.com if you have any questions!
