The Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure (ACTRIS-RI) officially became the 33rd European Research Infrastructure Consortium (#ERIC) on April 25, 2023 with the support of seventeen founding memberand observer countries, including the Netherlands. ACTRIS-NL is supported by the Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat, and Ruisdael Observatory. The Ruisdael Observatory site in Cabauw is an official ACTRIS labelled observatory platform. Ruisdael Observatory is also involved in two national facilities of ACTRIS: the #CCRES (centre for cloud remote sensing), led by Herman Russchenberg, and the #CREGARS (centre for reactive trace gases remote sensing), led by Arnoud Apituley. As a pan-European legal organisation, ACTRIS ERIC will coordinate the provision of data and data products on short-lived atmospheric constituents and #cloudsrelevant to climate and air #pollution over the next 15-20 years. The level of #greenhousegases in the atmosphere rises constantly, heating up our planet. Observing the levels of greenhouse gas emissions is essential to predict #climatechange and mitigate its consequences. ICOS - Integrated Carbon Observation System provides standardised and open data from close to 180 measurement stations across 16 European countries. The stations observe greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere as well as carbon fluxes between the atmosphere, the land surface and the oceans. Thus, ICOS is rooted in three domains: atmosphere, ecosystem and ocean. The #ICOS community consists of more than 500 scientists in both its current Member and Observer countries and beyond. More than 80 renowned universities or institutes are a part of the ICOS community, Ruisdael Observatory being one of them. Three of the four fixed state-of-the-art equipped measurement locations in Lutjewad, Loobos and Cabauw are certified ICOS-stations. The Environmental Observation Department (EOD) of CARE-C at The Cyprus Institute has initiated the SPring particles In CYprus- SPICY campaign, which began in early April and will continue until the end of May at three of the four Cyprus Atmospheric Observatory (CAO) stations of CARE-C. This intensive campaign aims to investigate a phenomenon of formation of new particles in the springtime atmosphere in Cyprus. The campaign instrumentation fleet is spanning to measure everything from emissions to cloud condensation nuclei, with a focus on high-frequency new particle formation events. From 21 May until 25 June 2024, the third Cabauw INtercomparison of UV-Vis DOAS Instruments (#CINDI-3) campaign took place in #Cabauw, the Netherlands. Building on the success of CINDI-2 in 2016, this event was a significant milestone in atmospheric science. During the effort, more than 100 people participated from 16 countries worldwide, operating 44 instruments. This international #measurementcampaign, which gathered many #ACTRIS users measuring air pollution by remote sensing techniques, is the largest of its kind in the world. As global concerns about air quality and #climatechange intensify, the need for in-depth understanding of atmospheric pollutants is becoming increasingly urgent. Knowledge gained from atmospheric studies aids in predicting and mitigating the effects of air pollution and climate change on both health and the environment. This awareness highlights the importance of international collaborations like CINDI-3, where resources and expertise are pooled to tackle global challenges. The CINDI campaigns are pivotal for enhancing our understanding of air pollution. They provide a unique platform for the intercomparison of instruments measuring nitrogen dioxide, ozone, aerosols and several other reactive gases. Cabauw, the central facility in Ruisdael Observatory, is an ideal location for such campaigns due to its unique blend of rural and urban influences. Ocean Power Technologies. MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J., April 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ocean Power Technologies, Inc.(OPTT) (“OPT” or the “Company”), a leader in innovative and cost-effective low-carbon marine power, data, and service solutions, today announced its selection as part of a team awarded the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services (ProTech) Oceans Domain Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. This award positions OPT within an elite group of service providers supporting NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts. Under the terms of the contract, OPT will contribute its advanced technologies, including the pioneering PowerBuoy® systems and WAM-V® autonomous surface vessels, to support NOAA’s critical research and operational missions. The contract has a minimum duration of five years, with an early potential of several million per year in revenue. The overall ProTech IDIQ has a ceiling of 8 billion providing ample opportunities to supply into NOAA. Philipp Stratmann, CEO and President of Ocean Power Technologies(OPTT), expressed his enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, "We are honored to support NOAA's essential work in oceanic and atmospheric science. This contract is a testament to OPT’s commitment to delivering innovative and reliable solutions that can withstand the demanding conditions of marine environments. We look forward to working closely with NOAA to advance the understanding and sustainability of our oceans." This IDIQ award is a mandatory-use vehicle for NOAA and may also be utilized by other bureaus within the U.S. Department of Commerce. It allows for a variety of contract types, including firm fixed price, cost reimbursement, and time and materials, providing flexibility in how services are delivered and managed. The award of the ProTech Oceans IDIQ contract to OPT reaffirms the company's role at the forefront of ocean technology and its continued commitment to enhancing the capabilities of governmental and scientific communities in their marine-related activities.

I am happy to share my recently published article titled, “CMIP5 Decadal Precipitation over an Australian Catchment”. Here, we have evaluated and categorized Eight GCMs that contributed to CMIP5 monthly rainfall prediction in decadal timescale. A wide range of skills from both temporal and spatial perspectives have been employed here. Multimodel ensembles are formed, based on the different combinations of model categories, and their performances are also evaluated in the same manner as individual models. 🛰 Exciting News! 🛰 I’m glad to share that our latest research on estimating ground-level NO2 concentrations using machine learning and remote sensing data has just been published as part of the Special Issue Feature Papers of Section “Atmospheric Remote Sensing” (Second Edition) in the Remote Sensing MDPI journal! 🌍✨ In collaboration with my professor Maria Antonia Brovelli, we explored how satellite data and meteorological models can provide insights into air quality monitoring in Mexico City.
