We look forward to the publication of the article "Precision Oncology Initiatives to Catalyze Personalized Cancer Care" co-authored by Prof. Valsamo Anagnostou, Co-Director, Thoracic Oncology Precision Medicine Center of Excellence at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. ………… How do we match the #MolecularProfile of a patient’s tumor with the best available therapy? #MolecularTumorBoards are expert opinion based #precision_oncology initiatives that have been shown to improve outcomes by matching #genomic_profiling of tumors with available therapies as standard of care or in the context of a clinical trial. As an example, the John Hopkins Molecular Tumor Board that I am leading together with Dr. Jessica Tao, is a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary molecular tumor board that reviews tumor and liquid biopsy molecular profiling reports, carefully interprets the genomic findings and provides personalized recommendations tailored to the genetic footprint of each individual’s cancer. …………. In the USA they are moving much faster in cancer research and in translating it to treatment options. In more than one EU member state there is still confusion about what makes molecular tumor boards differ from the existing oncology boards in cancer hospitals. Personalized cancer care, genomics in clinical practice and in public health, cancer research, comprehensive cancer centers (CCCs), patient and public involvement, cancer culture, are at the core of the #EUCancerPlan and and of the #CancerMission and the goal is that by 2030 70% of eligible patients to be treated in #CCCs. The big question in 2024, moving towards the EU elections in May, is how all these cancer research results, policy activity of the last three years will translate in actionable cancer care improvements that reach cancer patients in each EU member state. #personalizedmedicine canheal.eu #genomics #publichealth

This is one of those achievements that is worth sharing, for the opportunity to help thousands of people! I am involved in an international research on the evaluation of quality indicators in oncological treatment in developing countries, such as Brazil. The initial result of the research is published in the prestigious British scientific journal The Lancet Oncology. The article "Quality indicators for evaluating cancer care in low-income and middle-income country settings: a multinational modified Delphi study" establishes new standards through minimum quality indicators. We aim not only to improve the quality of oncological care, but also to promote a positive and lasting change in global health. The research will continue and, as soon as we have new findings, I will come back here to share with you. The article is available for free reading until March 19, 2024: https://lnkd.in/d953fj3b #AudreyTsunoda #Oncology #WomensHealth #GynecologicalSurgery #RoboticSurgery #HealthTechnology #MinimallyInvasiveSurgery #TheLancetOncology

New research reveals promising strides in the early identification of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). By combining ultrasound radiomics features with clinical variables, a machine learning algorithm achieved an impressive AUC of 0.71 in distinguishing TNBC patients before histopathologic diagnosis. Key factors include cN status, shape surface volume ratio, and age. #SupportingSonographers https://loom.ly/bd-QOjE
