No one wants to be around when a pneumatic plug explodes. Here are a few tips on how to avoid being like this mannequin👀

Why are pneumatic plugs a leading cause of injury🤕 in the wastewater industry? Pnuematic plugs are an extremely useful tool when used correctly. As many of us know, they can easily become a dangerous instrument☠ if things are overlooked. Plugs require specific care and proper usage to keep our workers safe. Here are 4 things to keep in mind when using and storing your pneumatic plugs ⤵ 1. Always be aware of the Danger Zone 💠 Even if you are not inside the manhole next to the plug, it can still be dangerous. Never enter the Danger Zone while a plug is in use. 2. Prep before using plugs 💠 Choose the correct size for application, check the maximum back pressure, and use a calibrated gauge. 3. Monitor placement and pressure of plugs 💠 Never over or under-inflate a plug. Always release the back pressure from the pipe before deflating to avoid dislodging the plug. 4. Maintain proper maintenance and storage 💠 Plugs can be cleaned with mild soap and water, then stored in a dry place away from sunlight. Check for visible damage, if there are any issues, do not use, and replace immediately. ❗ If there is ever any doubt concerning the plug's integrity, don't use it ❗ #guruofpoopoo #sewercleaning #pneumaticplugs #wastewater #safetytips #publicworks
