How did we more than double the CTR for one of the underperforming products in Google Shopping Ads? 📈 After a month of running a Google Shopping campaign for one of our clients, we noticed a discrepancy in data. One of the core products had a significantly lower CTR compared to other products. An average CTR was 2.13% while the problematic product had a way lower CTR of 0.58%. Last week we fixed the product's search appearance. We replaced the main image with the one that displays the product more clearly. We updated the title and attributes. Voilà, we boosted CTR for the particular product from 0.58% to 1.23%. #ppc #googleshoppingads #googleads #ctr

New Google Shopping Update 🛍 Google calls it "Conversion Annotations" which increases the amount of social proof for your shopping ads. If Google sees sufficient Conversion Data with some of your products, it can include terms such as: 1.) best selling 2.) 1K shopped here recently Ensure that you have conversion tracking setup within your Google Merchant Center if you want to avail of this new feature. Conversion Annotations combined with shopping product reviews should be enough Social Proof to help your ad get clicked. Recommending opting into this as soon as possible, before it becomes saturated. - - - Thanks for reading. There’s something important you might have missed about the Price Competitiveness reports in Google Merchant Center. Inspired by conversation in a comment thread with Matt Bowen on a post yesterday on ways to improve performance on Google Shopping. Since not everyone’s out there combing through the comment section, I figured it was worth bringing the conversation out to its own post. If you’re leveraging this report, you’ll know that it compares the price of your products with a benchmark price* on Google. If you aren’t leveraging this report, you should be. In any case, here’s the bit most people miss: The benchmark price is click-weighted. This is good in the sense that it keeps shady sites that don’t get much traffic from skewing the benchmark, but it does mean that it shouldn’t be taken as absolute truth. Bigger players essentially get to set the benchmark here, so if you’re in an industry where you and other smaller stores are competing for traffic alongside big retailers, be sure and step outside of the report and do your own price comparison with similar-sized competitors as well. And, as Brian Albert pointed out in his post, make sure your products have GTINs (if relevant). This is how Google is able to match up the product and compare with other sellers, so it’s crucial. * Benchmark Price is what it’s labeled as in classic Merchant Center, but if you’re using Merchant Center Next, it will be listed as “Price on Google”. #googleads #sem #ppcchat #digitalmarketing #paidsearch
