I think this is an important and brave question. Critically exploring the existential purpose of a publicly funded service. Huge changes in health, wealth and rights since the welfare state and NHS were formed and we are living in a very different society to then. Services continually evolving to keep up with changing needs, expectations and obligations. Conversations like this may help loosen unconcious attachment to traditional thinking, old paradigms and enable new possibilities. What do we as a society want from Children's social care?
