What we're seeing in UK Children's Social Care : https://lnkd.in/eAii7MfF The weekly Live Show Programme offers a fresh approach to parenting and gives the information and skills required to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, with aims to create changes to the system that improve life chances for children born into minoritized communities for ever; this can be a generational shift in the way we prepare families and mainstream services for the best possible outcomes, rather than systematically repeating the mistakes of the past. Save The Woman continues to support campaigns for positive change, using evidence from our community engagement. While lobbying the local authority to improve their training for professionals, we realised parents, which includes international students might also be in need of awareness building and training. In response to that need, we set up an Africentric parenting course taught from an African perspective, so parents appreciate potential for misunderstanding, learn to communicate appropriately. We look forward to partnering with as many interest groups and organisations, to offer parents generous support services and strengthen families in line with the recent Government initiative. On 2 February 2023, the government published a new vision to transform children's service social care: 'Children's social care: stable homes, built on love’ which was backed by £200 million of additional investment. A proactive approach of a programme with the expectation to support families and provide the right support at the right time so that children can thrive with their families. How do you think we can further spread awareness and support for special needs parents? Answer: To effectively spread awareness and support for parents of children with special needs, a multifaceted approach is essential. This could involve educational workshops to inform the public and support parents, alongside targeted media campaigns that share personal stories to increase relatability and understanding. Creating robust support networks, both online and in person, provides a vital platform for parents to exchange resources and experiences. Additionally, partnerships with educational and healthcare institutions can help disseminate useful information and advocate for necessary accommodations and support. Engaging in legislative advocacy is also critical to push for policies that improve the lives of these families. By integrating these strategies, communities can foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for parents navigating the challenges of raising children with special needs.

Dads are essential, and we're making a difference! I'm thrilled to introduce you to the Engaging Fathers and Young Men program, an initiative I'm proud to lead as Director at CCSI. Why Fathers Matter: Studies show children with engaged fathers have better emotional, social, and academic outcomes. Yet, barriers often prevent fathers from fully participating in their children's lives. That's where we come in! Engaging Fathers and Young Men breaks down these barriers by: Building a network of support: Connecting fathers with resources and community organizations. Far too often, those who show up to speak at public meetings when a multi-family housing project or MBTA Communities proposal is on the agenda are older, longtime residents who, frankly, already have a place to live. Often missing from that conversation are the voices of younger adults who, due to the difficulty of finding housing in Greater Boston, have or are considering leaving the state. And often, those younger workers tell us, they’d like to be part of the conversation about expanding housing availability. But don’t know where to start, who to talk to, or when to show up. That’s why our chamber, in partnership with CHAPA is launching an effort to engage young professionals in local housing conversations, starting with our virtual Housing Advocacy Workshop Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. Attendees don’t have to live or work in our chamber's communities to attend. In fact, that’s the whole idea: Municipal leaders need to hear from people who wish they could live and work in our cities and towns. Big Announcement LinkedIn Friends~ I have spent the last couple of years at Point Source Youth going deep on how we, across all of our systems and communities, can put power and resources directly into young people’s hands, and I want to share that I am moving on from my position at the end of this week. It is bittersweet to transition from a team I love so much, but I'm excited to reignite ABC Training & Consulting while keeping an eye out for my next big project! I am excited to share my skills and knowledge of youth and homelessness best practices, training and facilitation, quality improvement, strategy development and social justice work, in collaboration with rad folks anywhere and everywhere. I am incredibly proud of the Direct Cash Transfers as Prevention intervention and the communities piloting it. This model is not just about meeting young people with exactly what they need, it is not just about the power that cash represents - it is also about scaling a community-ownership model of resourcing all of the brilliant service providers to do their jobs even better. It is about trusting service providers the way we are asking them to trust young people. It is about restoring, healing, and funding community in young people’s lives. I am also so incredibly humbled and proud of all the youth consultants I have gotten to work with, along with my scheming partners Rocio Evelin Carranza Jacinto, MPH, Julia Terry (they/themme), Milo and so many others. I am so honored to have worked and learned with you, for the ways you have advocated, led, taught, learned, and pushed all of us to center humans first. Anjala Huff, you really are a real one, and you have taught me how to be a mover and shaker while never losing sight of what is most important. Yall are the leaders we need right now, and I have learned so much from you <3 I want systems, organizations, and communities to do right by young people, no matter what - because that is what they deserve.
