RW Armstrong’s Post

RW Armstrong undertook a comprehensive refurbishment of the iconic control tower on the Goodwood Estate, originally constructed during the Second World War and first serving as the circuit office in 1948. The project aimed to modernise the building while preserving its historical and cultural significance. Though not listed, the control tower is internationally renowned and cherished by race enthusiasts, making it essential to honour its archetypal character throughout the refurbishment. The refurbishment included the integration of a new steel structure within the original walls, alongside the installation of a new roof and decking. Given the proximity to the active race circuit, the project demanded meticulous planning and execution to avoid disrupting events and to safeguard drivers and vehicles from any potential hazards. The project won a SUSSEX HERITAGE TRUST Award. #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship #refurbishment #rwarmstrong #craftsmanship #goodwood #countryhousebuilders #sussexheritagetrustaward #craftspeople
