The progress that Rwanda has made towards sustainable development is impressive. Using two core values- self-sufficiency (KWIGIRA) and dignity (AGACIRO), the Rwandan nation has been on an extraordinary path of progress and development since the genocide of 1994. From the depths of misery in the 90s (four fifths of the population was living below the poverty line), the nation created a supportive environment for accelerated growth. The impressive growth can be attributed to institutional re-structuring, regulatory reforms, wise macro-and micro-economic policies, and home-grown development initiatives. According to a World Bank report, Rwanda’s growth rate was 7.6% in the first three quarters of 2023 and the average projected growth rate is 7.2 percent for 2024-2026. Rwanda’s 2nd National Strategy for transformation (2024-2029) aims to create a prosperous and resilient economy through five key priorities: quality education, decent and productive jobs, reduced stunting and malnutrition, more exports, and enhanced public-service delivery. These priorities are likely to ensure the building of a very strong economy. Rwanda has already discovered its true north in the guiding principles of ‘Kwigira’ and’ Agaciro’. And that, perhaps, is the real secret of Rwanda's story of progress. #rwanda #sustainability #transformation #Sustainabledevelopment

#mythought🤔🤔 🇷🇼 From Tragedy to Triumph: The Remarkable Transformation of Rwanda 🇷🇼 As we reflect on the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, it's essential to acknowledge the incredible journey of transformation and development that Rwanda has embarked upon since those dark days. Twenty-eight years ago, Rwanda was torn apart by one of the most horrific acts of violence in modern history. The genocide left scars that ran deep, affecting every aspect of Rwandan society. However, in the face of unspeakable tragedy, Rwanda chose to rise from the ashes and rebuild itself into a beacon of hope and resilience. Today, Rwanda stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through unity, reconciliation, and visionary leadership. The country has made remarkable strides in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and technology. Under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, Rwanda has implemented bold reforms aimed at fostering inclusivity, promoting economic growth, and ensuring sustainable development. The results speak for themselves: Rwanda has consistently ranked among the fastest-growing economies in Africa, with impressive gains in poverty reduction and social welfare. Moreover, Rwanda's commitment to reconciliation and justice has been exemplary. Through grassroots initiatives like community-based Gacaca courts and national programs promoting unity and dialogue, Rwanda has fostered a culture of forgiveness and healing, laying the foundation for a more peaceful and prosperous future. As we commemorate the lives lost during the genocide, let us also celebrate the resilience and determination of the Rwandan people. Their unwavering spirit and dedication to building a brighter tomorrow serve as an inspiration to us all. If Ruwanda would succeed to this extent. Nigeria can; when she's determined. #Rwanda #GenocideRemembrance #Transformation #Development #Unity #Resilience #Hope #Inspiration #Africa #NeverAgain

Counseling Psychologist for Executives | Facilitating personal and professional growth, resilience, and well-being for senior leaders
Agriculture, tourism, ICT and manufacturing are key issues in Rwanda. Infrastructure development in Rwanda is notable when you look at transportation and energy. It has become a regional hub for technology and is even exporting it within the neighbourhood. From Rwanda, we see what is achievable in Africa by strengthening the governance, eliminating corruption as a major barrier of development, establishing strong dependency institutions to ensure transparency. It is important to invest in education and health which has a long-term impact on the population of the country. An unhealthy or illiterate nation cannot participate or contribute in development. Rwanda has created a business-friendly environment that encourages economic growth as investors create a job market for the locals. It has promoted environmental sustainability where we have always thought it impossible. They have addressed the issue of national unity knowing how much they were affected by the genocide whereas in Kenya, we have never been able to fully address these challenges and they keep recurring. Rwanda is a very good example of what a country can do to commit to development and a challenge to other African countries to move past what the colonizers did. It has built a legacy that will be carried forward through generations knowing it has worked. It is an inspiration to many nations to make a reference, make bold decisions that have enabled their people to reclaim their resources and uplift the population ensuring that independence and freedom are more than just words in the national anthem. Rwanda has proven that other than singing about what the colonizers did, we can turn our countries around. #NationalUnity #Development #Business #ResourceManagement #NationalLegacy

Rwanda, known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills," is a small landlocked country in East Africa, bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and vibrant wildlife, but also for its tragic history of genocide. Despite this, Rwanda has made remarkable strides in economic recovery and social cohesion, becoming a symbol of resilience. Geography Rwanda's terrain is predominantly mountainous, the highest being Mount Karisimbi at 4,507 meters (14,787 feet) in the Virunga Mountains. These mountains are part of the Albertine Rift, which is rich in biodiversity. Numerous lakes, the largest being Lake Kivu on the border with the DRC, and rivers also characterize Rwanda's geography. Its high elevation gives it a relatively cool tropical highland climate. History Rwanda was a German colony in the late 19th century before becoming a Belgian trust territory after World War I. During this period, the colonial administration exacerbated ethnic divisions between the Hutu majority and the Tutsi minority, which later escalated into mass violence. In 1994, Rwanda was devastated by a genocide in which an estimated 800,000 to 1,000,000 Tutsi and moderate Hutu were killed in just 100 days. This horrific event has had a profound and lasting impact on the country. Post-Genocide Recovery Post-genocide governance focused on national reconciliation, justice (through both conventional courts and traditional Gacaca courts), and economic reform. Rwanda has since made significant progress in governance and socio-economic development, achieving impressive growth rates and improvements in health care, education, and gender equality. Rwanda's government has been lauded for its efficient bureaucracy and low levels of corruption relative to the region. Politics Rwanda is a presidential republic. The Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), led by President Paul Kagame since 2000, has been the dominant political force. While the political environment is stable, there are criticisms regarding political freedoms and media censorship. Economy The Rwandan economy is based on subsistence agriculture with coffee and tea being the major cash crops for export. Tourism is also a critical component of the economy, largely due to the country's wildlife, including the famous mountain gorillas. The government has invested heavily in attracting business and technology investments, branding Rwanda as a "high-tech hub" of Africa. Society and Culture Rwanda's population is young and predominantly rural, with Kigali, the capital, as the major urban center. The country has made significant strides in gender equality; Rwanda has one of the highest rates of female parliamentary representation in the world. Cultural expressions through dance, music, and arts are avenues of both traditional and modern expressions.

It has been over a decade since Rwanda's devastating genocide against the Tutsi, and the country has made tremendous progress in rebuilding itself. Rwanda's capital city Kigali has transformed into a bustling, modern city, thanks in large part to investments from Rwanda's diaspora community. Members of the diaspora have invested over $1.5 billion into Rwanda's economy over the past 10 years, funding major real estate developments across the country. Their capital and international experience have accelerated Rwanda's growth, supporting projects like residential housing, commercial buildings, hotels and mixed-use developments. Kigali has now emerged as East Africa's leading business and tourism hub. The diaspora's passion for their homeland, combined with Rwanda's investor-friendly policies, have driven Rwanda's real estate revolution. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the genocide. Rwanda has come a long way, but continued progress will rely on the determination of its leaders and the support of all Rwandans–both at home and abroad. The future is bright for this resilient nation.
