Dear students, three more days before the internships campaign for ESA starts on Friday November 1st. So fasten your seat belts, we will review together what you need to know before it all starts: Who can apply for an ESA internship? - Students, preferably in their final or second-to-last year of a university course at Master’s level. You must have the student status and be enrolled at university for the entire duration of the internship. and - Citizens of an ESA member state, or an associate state or a cooperating state. What is the duration of the internships? It can vary between 3 months to 6 months, as stated in the offer. What is offered if you become an ESA intern? - An enriching and highly valuable experience that could open doors to a career within Europe’s space sector, renowned research institutes or, of course, ESA itself. - An international multicultural and friendly working environment - Internships are unpaid, however a monthly allowance is granted (500 euros for residents (living within 50km from the office), 800 euros for non-resident) How does the recruitment process works? - After the offers are published, you have one month to apply. You can find them at the following link: https://lnkd.in/eG8mMcYJ - Select the opportunity that most interests you and fits best with your academic background and aspiration. - Remember, there are every year, for each offer, a high number of applications received, so only two applications are possible per candidate. - To apply, you first need to register and create your candidate profile with your CV and motivation letter. The recruitment timeline is: - November 1st: publication - Between December and February: shortlisting and selection of candidates - February: Earliest start date for internships – Note: the internship can start, by agreement between the student, its university/school, the tutor and ESA, between February and October. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application A few tips: - Before applying, read the details of each position thoroughly and focus your attention on the one that is most in line with your interests and background. - Share your motivation, interests and enthusiasm in your motivation letter – but keep it clear and concise! Answer the questions in the application form carefully: they are important for HR to learn more about your profile. If you have any further questions, feel free to write at contact.human.resources@esa.int For more information, follow the link: https://lnkd.in/eG8mMcYJ

Inspiring the Next Generation of Geospatial Professionals! Last night, I had the amazing opportunity to speak at the #OpenStreetMap #Zimbabwe #Geospatial Careers Webinar Series! The turnout was fantastic, and it was inspiring to connect with people from all stages of their geospatial journeys – students, graduates, early professionals, and seasoned veterans of the field. My talk focused on three key areas: 🔎 Landing that Internship: I shared tips and strategies to help attendees stand out from the crowd and secure valuable internship opportunities. 🔎 Navigating a Female Career Path: We discussed the unique challenges and solutions women face in the geospatial profession. 🔎 Beyond Academics: I highlighted the importance of gaining practical experience and developing skills that complement your academic background. The discussion was lively and brimming with positive energy. The enthusiasm of the students, in particular, was truly inspiring! It reaffirmed the importance of encouraging young people to actively build their professional profiles. One key takeaway for me is the importance of encouraging students to build their professional online presence from an early stage. Students should start building their LinkedIn profiles as early as their first year, adding to them as they progress through their studies and careers. I also addressed the concept of volunteering and securing opportunities. While volunteering offers valuable experience and skill-building opportunities, it should not be solely relied upon for securing employment. Many graduates have similar academic qualifications, so standing out requires more. Think beyond your transcript. What additional skills and experiences can you offer to make yourself a more attractive candidate? Volunteering can definitely add value, but it's a piece of the puzzle, not the guarantee. Remember, there will be setbacks, but persistence is key. Volunteering adds value to your profile and makes you a more marketable candidate. While a strong academic background is important, it's the additional skills and experience that can make you stand out, especially when everyone else has a similar degree. There will be times when volunteering doesn't directly translate into specific job opportunities. This is normal! What sets successful professionals apart is their perseverance. We all encounter setbacks, but the key is to keep learning, growing, and exploring new possibilities. The journey continues! Join us next #Wednesday for an exciting discussion about Careers in the Drone/UAV industry! #OSMZimbabwe #GeospatialCareers #InspiringTheNextGeneration

2moVery nice but, I don't understand. Most of your Students in RWTH IntAc are non EU students. That means no carrier opportunity in ESA, at least until they are naturalized in any EU country.
