Spoke to a mentor who accepted a new role 🤫 in an emerging side of clinical informatics, AI adoption, and portfolio management. And while the purpose of the call was to chit-chat about the global impact that nurses are making worldwide (across informatics and some of the new changes in the EU), I couldn't help but be encouraged as this person has held on to this dream (job/vision) for over 7 years. I have to be honest: I love seeing others walk in their gifts, dreams, and talents. It's not often that you get to witness the BTS path that it takes to do something new and then actually watch others do 👏🏽 it 👏🏽 . So this post is for the visionaries, the pioneers and the misunderstood. The ones who stay in the academic articles reading up on the latest/greatest, and the ones networking to understand how to decipher the change in the wind. (And let us not forget the ones attending the conferences, speaking at the conferences, and designing workshops for the conferences). Tell me, how long are you willing to hold onto the dream? And how long should it take you to bring the invisible to life? It's easy to jump onboard once the ground has been paved, but until then, will YOU press in? (Because the truth of the matter is, it'll continue to haunt you at every corner anyway) #LifeLongLearning

Health professionals increasingly educate themselves through digital storytelling. Research from BMC Medical Education reviewed educational digital storytelling. The review focused on digital storytelling's impact on helping professionals understand concepts more personally than typical case studies allow. Read the systematic review at the link below. The rapid growth of medical knowledge—now doubling every 73 days—outpaces traditional Continuing Medical Education (CME). CME often lags behind the latest advancements and lacks integration with cutting-edge practices, which can leave physicians rooted in outdated methodologies. This creates a knowledge gap in the field, where “experience” doesn’t always align with best practices. The focus must shift toward real-time learning and access to updated evidence-based resources, ideally incorporating AI-driven, adaptive learning systems. These can provide physicians with relevant, up-to-date information tailored to their specialty and practice setting, enabling them to keep pace with the relentless advancements in medical science. #MedicalEducation #AdaptiveLearning #AIinHealthcare #ContinuousImprovement #ModernMedicine

So, Me, Dr Dom Main, Chris Wilson and Paul Drake had an informal webinar with medical students and resident doctors (the new name for junior doctors) last week. This was done in collaboration with Mind the Bleep. We gave the audience an introduction into what is clinical informatics, how the 4 of us got into this speciality and how others could too join this exciting and developing career. It was a fun session and we plan to do more of them. What I realised after the webinar (although I kind of knew this already) was that there is not really any real career path to get into clinical informatics, and you kind of have to be in the right place at the right time and with the right mindset. Also, easily accessible education on this speciality is hard to find. It was clear from the webinar that most people just "fall" into their clinical informatics roles, something that I have seen time and time again when talking to my fellow digital health colleagues. I would really love to see some great teaching material that is far reaching and gives people the knowledge that they need to enter the digital health speciality and also suceed. What would be even better is officially recognised training routes. I don't have all the answers, and I do see a few people trying to create such teaching materials, but often at postgraduate level. I myself am working with the Let's Do Digital to build the teaching materials that I and others would have loved to have had available when we started out in our new speciality. I am even working with colleauges on creating the 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 handbook, working alongside the legendary Dr Trefor Roscoe. I am going to keep on fighting the fight to create and get digital health education to the masses. I would love to hear if anyone else is interested in helping. Perhaps you have an idea on how we can take on this elephant sized feat! For those that are intersted, the recording of the webinar can be found below. https://lnkd.in/erc_KZQD

Empowering Doctors Through Digital Communities: The Future of Continuous Learning in Healthcare Digital communities are playing a significant role in enhancing medical education, providing spaces for doctors to collaborate, share knowledge, and stay updated on the latest medical advancements. These online platforms enable clinicians to discuss patient care strategies, research findings, and new medical trends, which are critical for applying the latest practices in their work. Studies emphasize that digital technology in healthcare education not only increases flexibility and accessibility but also fosters collaboration among peers. Digital communities help bridge the gap between clinical practice and continuous learning, making knowledge exchange more seamless and effective. These communities, including closed doctor groups, ensure a dynamic environment for learning and growth, enhancing the ability to practice safe, evidence-based medicine. As digital technologies continue to evolve, they offer even greater potential for developing competencies and improving patient care. #LearnSaveRepeatWithCasemology #FutureOfMedicineStartsWithCasemology #medicaltraining #medicalaffairs

Why Closed Doctor Groups Are Essential for Continuous Learning Closed doctor groups are essential for continuous learning because they create a dedicated environment where medical professionals can share case studies, research findings, and clinical strategies. This collaborative setting fosters peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, helping clinicians stay updated with evolving medical advancements. These groups enhance critical thinking and problem-solving by facilitating discussions on real-world cases, promoting reflective learning, and enabling structured feedback. According to studies, small group learning improves retention and helps bridge knowledge gaps by encouraging interactive discussions and peer support BMC Medical Education https://lnkd.in/dm_QAR7M Oxford Academic https://lnkd.in/dWc2d2VQ Moreover, with the rapid pace of medical innovation, such closed networks ensure that practitioners remain current, ultimately improving patient care Health Management Portal https://lnkd.in/d4728EYu #ContinuousLearning #MedicalNetworking #Casemology #FutureOfMedicineStartsWithCasemology #LearnSaveRepeatWithCasemology
