Ensuring Stable Processing with High-Power Continuous Wave Lasers through Targeted Beam Analysis. Powerful, yet sensitive: High-power laser beams are easily disturbed before reaching the metallic workpiece. Changes in the relevant beam parameters can be subtle, like gradually increasing focus shift, but result in unacceptable part quality. In this talk, I visualize the most important beam parameters and present actionable insights on how to track, evaluate, and handle them. What does it mean for a methane detection technology to be reliable? While there are a lot of ways to qualify “reliable,” one way to look at it is how reliable its detection sensitivity is under different conditions. A myriad of operational and environmental conditions can impact detection sensitivity performance, but accuracy is important because operators need to know that they can reliably detect an emission of a certain size. I'm thrilled to share our latest paper, where for the first time, we conducted subzero synchrotron X-ray computed tomography (SXCT) of commercial lithium-ion batteries, unlocking new insights into battery safety and performance. 💡 Key Highlights: First-ever subzero SXCT investigation in batteries. Detailed imaging of a commercial cell at the electrode level during nail penetration damage, a critical failure mechanism.
