The timing is on point !

Our last day in Svalbard was unusually magical. On a Zodiac ride to view a beautiful glacier front, we encountered a mother polar bear and her two cubs. They started out just sleeping on the tundra at the edge of a bay. We watched quietly at a great distance of over 300 meters. Eventually, Mom got up and started walking the beach. The cubs followed, eventually slipping into the frigid waters and playing with each other. I've seen polar bears dive below the water surface before, but I've never seen a cub do it, nor for the time they spent doing so. This short video is footage I compiled of that special event. On a technical note, I shot more stills than video of this episode. I desperately wanted to shoot virtually all video, but it's normally impossible to capture video footage from a boat on the water, handheld, no less. But I knew this show was made for video. My concern was due to handholding a powerful telephoto zoom, the 150-400mm. Normally you would never shoot video with such a powerful telephoto lens unless you are on solid ground with the camera and lens attached to a tripod. It's generally impossible to handhold something this powerful and still get quality footage. But thankfully I was seriously impressed with what the OM-System OM-1 Mark ll allowed me to do with that lens. Hope you enjoy the video. Rather than a few nice shots in a garage or studio of this Champion wood splitter, I had my actor (husband 😊) put it to use to demonstrate its power and abilities. As my first product video, I wanted to tell a story and show its benefits and features, letting it speak for itself.
