Our thoughts at RYZE Claim Solutions are with the people of Connecticut, Long Island and New Jersey who are recovering from the heavy rain that flooded parts of the Northeast on Sunday. In particular, we feel for the families of the two women who perished in the flooding in Connecticut. Here's a link to an NBC news report about the flooding: https://lnkd.in/gFG9sChD What's notable is that Sunday's heavy rain had nothing to do with #Hurricane #Ernesto, which churned past the region a couple hundred miles east in the Atlantic Ocean. It was simply a moisture system that parked over the region. One part of Suffolk County, Long Island received seven inches of rain in three hours. Members of the RYZE Team live in Connecticut, Suffolk County and New Jersey, and we stand ready to help our clients and their policy holders. Be safe, everyone. How long does it take to repair after a flood in Sarasota? When a home in Sarasota Florida is hit by flooding, the recovery path is long and complex. It starts with quick actions like assessing damage and finding temporary homes. Then, comes the cleaning, disinfecting, and drying out of the property. How long it takes to fix a flooded home depends on many things. But, it can take months to a year or more before families can return. This time frame varies based on the damage and the steps needed to fix it. https://lnkd.in/gE2QNYc7

Prayers for the estimated 468,000 households in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and surrounded areas that are without power in the wake of Hurricane Francine, which has been downgraded to a tropical depression after landfall Wed evening in LA. This AP picture taken on Sept 11 in Metairie, AL is a good reminder and relevant during any storm, anywhere with heavy rain, to "Turn Around Don't Drown." According to the NWS, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water. The next highest percentage of flood-related deaths is due to walking into or near flood waters. People underestimate the force and power of water, the CDC says. #besafe #TurnAroundDontDrown #SERVPRO #TeamGutierrez #stormready

Partnering with professionals and business owners to build a holistic clear roadmap to financial freedom and long-term security.
As Hurricane Francine barrels towards Louisiana's coast, bringing fearsome winds and the threat of flooding to cities like New Orleans, it's a timely reminder that flood risks are escalating, even in areas once considered safe. The WSJ recently highlighted how outdated flood maps and rising insurance costs are leaving many homeowners vulnerable. The shocking truth is that most flood-damaged properties are outside high-risk zones, and many lack adequate insurance. This isn't just a concern for coastal areas like New Orleans and Miami, but also for inland cities like Houston, Chicago, and even Sacramento, where heavy rainfall can lead to devastating floods. FLOODING A ‘CONSTANT AND EXISTENTIAL FEAR’: Tropical storm Debby has deluged parts of coastal South Carolina with more than a foot of rain as of Tuesday afternoon, with more expected today. As the story below recounts, rising sea levels and intense rains ever more threaten cities such as Charleston, which has seen its average sea level increase seven inches since 2010, or four times as fast as during the previous the last 30 years. Efforts are underway to confront the threat through the building of tunnels and pump stations, and now discussion of constructing a barrier to protect the city’s harbor. While Charleston hasn’t been directly hit by a hurricane since Hugo in 1989, it has experienced a freak drenching this past December from a freak nor’easter, as well as tropical rains in 2018 (Florence), 2017 (Irma), 2016 (Matthew) and 2015 (Joaquin remnants). “It’s no longer a question of if these storms can happen; we’ve seen them happen now again and again and again,” says one Charleston native. “There’s only so much you can do to plan for 20 inches of rain in a single storm, and beyond that, it’s emergency management.” #emergingissues #insuranceindustry #extremeweather
