Our top priority is to expand and innovate to serve more individuals and families in need. We've come far in 20 years, but the need for lifetime support is enormous. We must meet the demand for services that grow as our children grow up into adulthood. Living, leisure, learning, and earning are all critical areas we are poised and ready to address. As a grassroots, parent-led organization, we rely on community support to operate. Where will we be in 20 years without family and community involvement? Families rely on AutismUp programs and support, and we need everyone's help to ensure they remain available. Imagine the possibilities we can create with your involvement! This is where your support becomes crucial. We have a monumental challenge to raise $100,000 towards our KiteFlite Fundraising Challenge by August 11, 2024, in honor of our 20th anniversary. A gift of any amount will go a long way in helping us achieve this goal and make a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by autism now. Your immediate support will help us expand programs and services for all ages and lead a comprehensive housing analysis for individuals with autism and I/DD in Rochester. Please consider donating to a formed KiteFlite Team, or creating your own team to fundraise for AutismUp within your #Community and #Network https://lnkd.in/eSaW-X8z Your support is an investment in a more inclusive and supportive future for individuals with autism. #DonateToday #HelpFamiliesSOAR #CommunityStrong

🌍 Today is Autistics Speaking Day! Each of us experiences the world in our own unique way, and for people with autism, that experience can be especially distinct and insightful. On November 1, we celebrate and encourage autistic individuals to share their stories and perspectives, using whatever means works best for them. Let’s take this day to listen, understand, and appreciate these stories from their point of view. 💙 #AutisticsSpeakingDay #Nonprofit #CommunityAction #DoGood #HelpingPeopleSavingLives #EOCofSuffolk #Charity #Activism #EOCSuffolk #AutismAwareness #ListenUnderstand

Myself, Justine Render and Oliver James Bawtree delivered an "Autism acceptance in the workplace" presentation to our European colleagues and won a chance to donate money to our chosen Charity. We decided to go one step further and use the monies to fund x2 of the Award winning Smart GX165 to local Specialist Schools in order to create an Inclusive learning environment. Accepting Autism doesn't just start when young people are looking for Employment, it begins at the start of their journey in society. As Employers we should seek every opportunity to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about autism, because embracing autism in the workplace isn't just about diversity; it's about unlocking the unique talents and perspectives that enrich our teams and drive innovation. I'm proud to work for a company that not only empowers me to be creative and charitable but is with me every step of the way leading from the front when it comes to DE&I. Director of Finance, Louise Parnell said “Often, when you bring in a new system, not everything’s an improvement – but that hasn’t been the case with iplicit. We had a team meeting recently and every single member of the team sees a huge benefit in using iplicit compared with the previous system.” Join our webinar on Thursday 2nd May, 11am to find out more about how iplicit can make moving from Exchequer a straightforward process: https://hubs.la/Q02v7m_B0 #cloudaccounting #accountingsoftware #businesssoftware #cloudaccountingsoftware #financeteam #financeleaders #FinanceDirector #FinanceSoftware #nonprofitfinance

We set ambitious goals because the work we do at United Cerebral Palsy is vital—and right now, we need your help to close the gap. While we’ve raised $112,259, we’re still short of our $175,000 end-of-year fundraising goal. That’s a big deficit, but we believe in aiming high because there is so much work to be done in the year ahead. For individuals with disabilities, access to resources, advocacy, and therapies can mean the difference between a life full of limitations and one filled with possibility. We can’t do this without you. Every dollar you give brings us closer to our goal and closer to a world where every person can thrive. Will you help us reach $125K? Together, we can provide the tools and support necessary for people to lead lives without limits. Did you know that despite NDIS funding, there remains a gap in covering the full costs of providing specialist care for children who are deaf? To bridge this gap and ensure every child can learn to listen and speak, we rely on generous donations. 🙏 With more children being diagnosed with hearing loss every year, the need for support is greater than ever. Our 24-hour Giving Day on Wednesday, 28 August 2024, is a critical opportunity to make a difference. Thanks to the generosity of our partners, all donations made on Giving Day will be doubled, up to $105,000. This means your contribution will go twice as far in helping children like 1-year-old Louie, who is improving his listening and speech skills with tools like the Learn to Listen sounds. In the lead-up to Giving Day, we'll be sharing insights from our clinicians on some of these sounds. We encourage parents and guardians to try them out—it's a fun and effective way to support your child's spoken language development. Let’s kick off this campaign with the ‘Roar’ sound, just like a lion! 🦁 Stay tuned for more updates on the Learn to Listen sounds as we count down to Giving Day. For those eager to roar into action early, you can donate here: https://lnkd.in/gZHQwuNe All donations in the lead up to Giving Day will also be matched. #GivingDay2024 #TSCGivingDay #TheShepherdCentre #HearingLoss #AmplifyPossibility

To mark today, International Day of Disabled People I share this: What happens when we focus on what we and our teams can do rather than what they can’t? This is my son Samuel. This year he has set up his own enterprise called Samuel’s Sweet treats. He has cerebral palsy, is partially sighted and deaf. To date he has raised over £30k for charity. Following a difficult few years in which he has been let down by an education system that focuses on the negative and reasons why children can not attend mainstream school. Samuel decided to focus on what he can do not what he can’t do. The result - a wonderful passion for culinary experimentation that has led to some wonderful results. He has sold his produce at local chairty events the profits of which all go to charity including SpecialEffect #ridingforthedisabled and SSNAP (Supporting sick newborn and their parents) I share this to show to all businesses and employers that if we want to be successful we must focus on what people can do rather than what they can’t. It is our job as leaders to appropriately hire and place people to ensure their success. As end of year performance reviews approach take the opportunity to evaluate your teams and focus on strengths. As an individual let your manager know what you are good at, highlight your strengths and take a leaf out of Samuels book and focus on what you can do! #disabilityawareness #inclusion #charity John Fairweather
