This week, I've had my first real emotional rollercoaster moment with my new venture, Pynch Kitchen. Even after conducting a landscape patent search to make sure my upcoming invention is unique (DM me if you want to learn about it BTW) and doing a competitive analysis of the space, I suddenly discovered a competitor that is doing what appears to be something very similar. Only now its been months, I've invested a bunch of my time and capital. While I pride myself of being even keeled and able to stay calm at stressful moments in my career, when it came to my own invention, I did panic and before doing any diligence let my thoughts wander to darkness. What if this is over? What if now I have to rethink the whole approach and costs balloon (I'm self funding the company). Reflecting on this, its been truly illuminating discovery about myself and an opportunity to grow as a person and in my career. Learn from this experience that even when the stakes are more personal, I need to stay positive and manage my emotions better. Oh... and in case you're still reading this, good news, the other company product is still missing the most important parts of my invention. So we're still on! :) Shameless plug, signup to my early bird program to get a chance to see the early prototypes here: https://lnkd.in/gWTcUVtb

In a dimly lit space filled with casks, a moment of reflection: Our client holds a precious sample from his cask—deep ruby-red whisky, matured over years of patience and care. But here’s the thing: this bottle is more than just liquid. 🏰 It’s history. 🥃 It’s tradition. 💫 It’s legacy. At Whisky Solutions, we know that investing in a cask isn’t just about financial returns. It’s about creating something that endures, something that future generations will hold dear. This small bottle? It’s the culmination of time, craftsmanship, and passion. But above all, it’s a gift—one that shares a piece of yourself with those you love. 👨👩👧👦 When you hold your cask’s future in your hands, think of the stories it will tell, the memories it will create, and the legacy it will leave. This is more than whisky. It’s heritage in a bottle. A legacy that transcends time. Raise a glass to the future and to the moments that bring us together. 🥃 We’re honoured to be part of your journey in creating a legacy that will stand the test of time. #WhiskyHeritage #LegacyInABottle #CaskInvestment #FamilyTradition #WhiskySolutions #PassItOn #CraftedWithCare #WhiskyLovers #HeritageWhisky #FutureGenerations #Scotch

Think outside the box? No, imagine there is no box at all! That's how Uncle Boon's famous brownie came to be. By accident, we added it to the menu, and it became an instant hit. In 1930, Ruth and Kenneth Wakefield purchased a tourist lodge in Whitman, Massachusetts, and opened the Toll House Inn. Ruth, the cook for their new restaurant, was trying to make chocolate chip cookies but was in a hurry. She improvised by breaking apart a Nestlé chocolate bar and tossing it in. She didn’t melt the pieces as she normally did, thinking they would melt on their own. But they didn’t. They held their shape. What started as a simple mistake became a revolutionary culinary invention. This story is just one example of many products and inventions, from penicillin to the pacemaker, that resulted from fortunate accidents. Should we wait for good fortune to reveal a new latent need we were previously unaware of? Is this the best approach for planning our new product pipeline development? You’ll probably agree that unfortunately, we can't rely on serendipity alone. While we can't provide the recipe for Ruth's chocolate chip cookies, we can encourage you to apply SIT's recipes to create virtual accidents. By applying the SIT methodology, we can intentionally create imaginary malfunctions and explore their consequences. Removing an essential component of your product or creating another copy of a component are just two recipes for discovering new ideas. What’s the most surprising innovation you’ve come across that started as an accident? #NationalChocolateChipDay #Innovation #SITUK #SystematicInventiveThinking #LuckyAccident #CreativeThinking

You might know that the beloved chocolate chip cookie was invented by accident? Ruth Wakefield’s sweet mistake at the Toll House Inn led to a revolutionary culinary delight we all enjoy today. This got us thinking about the role of serendipity in innovation. Follow us for more insights on fostering innovation, if you're not already doing it! SIT UK - Systematic Inventive Thinking UK
