The FCC has announced a new Cybersecurity Pilot Program that will be launching this fall! The 3-year Pilot Program will provide up to $200 million to eligible schools and libraries to offset the cost of cybersecurity related services and technology. Schools and libraries that are eligible to apply for E-Rate may also apply for the Pilot Program. See the FCC webpage for more information on eligible technologies and application information: https://lnkd.in/ezp4xFAx Need help evaluating your school's current cybersecurity technology? The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a $200 million Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program to enhance the cybersecurity of K-12 schools and libraries. This three-year initiative aims to provide funding for cybersecurity services and equipment, supporting a wide range of tailored services and equipment for the institutions. Award amounts under this program will vary based on an approved formula, at a cost per student of $13.60, ranging from at least $15,000 to a maximum of $1.5 million. Districts receiving funding can utilize the funds to secure their networks through advanced firewalls, endpoint protection, identity protection, and monitoring and response mechanisms. Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. can help in all of these areas. While the program may not fully meet the needs of K-12 organizations, the valuable lessons learned could shape the future of the $4 billion E-rate discount program. Evolution of this program would significantly increase the cybersecurity funds available for schools and libraries in the future, creating a more robust framework for addressing cybersecurity challenges in educational institutions. #cybersecurity #educationtechnology #eRate #firewall #endpointprotection #MEDR

As a Mobile First Security Platform provider, I am excited to see that for the purposes of the Federal Communications Commission Pilot, they define endpoint protection as “equipment, services, or a combination of equipment and services that implements safeguards to protect school- and library-owned end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, and MOBILE DEVICES, against cybersecurity threats and attacks.” Cyber Criminals are exploiting the need for digital access and targeting DATA RICH institutions. These threat actors know the LEAST PROTECTED DEVICES connected to critical systems are endpoints, particularly MOBILE ENDPOINTS. Zimperium is here to support safe access, PREVENT DISTRICT and LIBRARY BREACHES via mobile devices, influence BETTER CYBER HYGIENE and increase student productivity so they can actually learn. Let's talk about it. Reference- Section 3, D. Eligible Services and Equipment/Security Measures, b.
