**Google Docs to Switch to Canvas-Based Rendering** ============================================ Google has announced that Google Docs will be transitioning to canvas-based rendering. This change aims to improve the overall performance and rendering quality of documents in Google Docs. The new rendering engine will use a canvas element to render the document, rather than relying on the browser's default rendering engine. This change is expected to provide a smoother and more responsive user experience, especially for complex documents. The switch to canvas-based rendering will begin rolling out to users over the next few weeks, and is expected to be completed by the end of summer. #GoogleDocs #CanvasBasedRendering #GoogleWorkspace #Productivity Source: https://lnkd.in/gnUKnQDw Update Date: 2024-07-12T17:26:32Z

Dark mode fans, this one’s for you! Google Calendar’s latest web update brings in a beautiful dark theme with redesigned elements that make planning your day smoother. Key updates: 1. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁: Makes each event and date pop against the dark background. 2. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗜 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Google is simplifying the design by reducing the stylization of components, making for a cleaner and more consistent interface. 3. 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘀: No more harsh tones! The updated color palette is easy on the eyes, especially during late-night planning. 4. 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀: It’s subtle, but these changes give the whole layout a modern, streamlined look. 5. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗨𝗜 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻: Google is fully moving to a Card UI, similar to Notion. P.S. Btw, we had an article about Card-based interfaces being on top in the near future. Crazy right? 🤯 Check comments for the full read). What are your thoughts on these tweaks? P.s. I love it! <3

📌It will officially end on August 30th👇 They released a new design a while back, but let's be real - many of us (me too!) just kept using the old one. The old way of doing things felt familiar and easy, we knew where everything was. Anyone else having trouble getting used to the new layout? Hopefully, it gets easier to use, and maybe Google will listen to our feedback and make some changes! #googleads #update #digitalmarketer

Google Material Design guide/booklet - Hello. A friend who attended got me this Google Material Design guide/booklet. I've had it for over 10 years but I think it's time for a new home. Here's some info about it: https://lnkd.in/dNaEPMY5 As you see mine is not in perfect condition - the outer cardboard cover is a bit scuffed and it's missing the cardboard jacket. But it's complete as far as contents are concerned (the cardboard sheets with the material design principles) and the dot grids for designing are unused. If you're in the UK I will send it to you free of charge. Ideally I'd like to keep things simple and send it to someone in the UK, but if there's no one here who wants it I will consider sending it overseas. I would require you to pay for shipping it abroad however. Thanks. #Google Brings Back #ClassicSearch with New "Web" Filter! Google recently announced a new "Web" filter they are rolling out that lets you see only text-based website links, just like the old days! This brand-new feature lets you see apartment listings, focusing solely on the essentials: descriptions, amenities, and contact info with no fancy graphics. ▪ Simplified View: Better for research without distractions of visual media ▪ Accessibility for All: Perfect for anyone with slower internet or a preference for a simpler format. ▪ Choice: Anyone who prefers a classic search view But here's the twist: While images and virtual tours can be flashy, they can also be super helpful. Seeing pictures of the apartment space, the amenities, and even the surrounding neighborhood can give you a much better sense of an apartment than text alone. So, the "Classic View" filter might be a great tool for initial browsing or filtering down a large pool of options. But for getting a real feel for a place, those visual elements are still important.
