U.S. Army Green Berets covertly breaching a WiFi network to disable a building’s security systems so their companions can sneak inside, complete their mission, and leave after using electronic warfare gear to conceal they were ever there sounds like the opening scene to a Mission Impossible movie or Call of Duty video game. Very real Army Special Forces soldiers executed this exact scenario during a training exercise in Sweden earlier this year. This is another example of specialized intelligence-gathering capabilities that are getting new attention as America’s special operations community shifts focus away from counter-terrorism missions to preparing for high-end fights. #USASOC #ODA #SOFCYBER

Want to know how members of DCSA's Industrial Security (IS) and Counterintelligence (CI) teams spent their summer? In June 2024, DCSA representatives from these groups traveled to Canberra, Australia, to meet face-to-face with their counterparts. The representatives joined a Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA)-sponsored delegation to deliver briefings and examine the similarities and differences between their respective security programs. “When I was a soldier, our military teams deployed with Australian forces into combat multiple times,” DCSA's Assistant Director of Industrial Security Matthew Redding said. “Knowing how each [other] train, operate and communicate was crucial in combat operations. I think this is a similar situation where our national policy and practice have to be well understood so that both nations can protect sensitive information and ensure our personnel security, industrial security, counterintelligence and security training procedures are nearly equal to each other. It certainly reduces a threat actor’s ability to divide and conquer our industry teams as they build complex and sensitive weapons.” Read the story here: https://lnkd.in/eQiiptvH #DCSA #IndustrialSecurity #Counterintelligence #AUKUS

NCIS Acting Deputy Director for Operations, Greg Scovel, spoke on the Law Enforcement and Counterintelligence panel at the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) National Insider Threat Awareness Month Conference earlier this month. Insider threats are complex and span across sectors. Sharing best practices and lessons learned with experts like Executive Director Pearl Mundt, Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Special Agent in Charge Matthew Fodor, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Tampa Field Office, and Defense Intelligence Senior Leader Gary Pepper, U.S. Army Counterintelligence Command, strengthens our community, fortifying both national and international defenses against insider risks. Partnerships and collaboration between agencies ensure a comprehensive defense strategy that addresses vulnerabilities across technology, personnel, and operations. Together, we protect national security and critical infrastructure. #InsiderThreat #Collaboration #NationalSecurity #CyberDefense

The Fight Against Defense Contractor Fraud Defense contracting is an essential component of national security, equipping military forces with the necessary tools, technologies, and services to maintain defense readiness and operational effectiveness. These contracts, often worth billions of dollars, are vital for the development and procurement of cutting-edge technology, weapons systems, and support services. However, the sheer scale and complexity of defense contracting also open avenues for fraud, posing significant risks. https://lnkd.in/grrrzm7e
