In other related Defense procurement news the Philippines🇵🇭 Department of National Defense (DND) budget for Fiscal Year 2025 includes the capacity for the Philippine Navy's plans to have new dry docks to support its growing fleet. In a report made public by the Philippine Navy, shows the intention to procure 2 floating dry docks - 1 for small ships with 3,500Tons capacity, and another for large capital ships with 8,000Tons capacity. The Philiippine Navy will also includes the plan to procure new boat lifts, floating cranes, shipbuilding tools and equipment, harbor crane, syncrolift, and additional harbour tugboats. These acquisition signal the intention of the Philippine Navy to be able to conduct (MRO) Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul as well as shipbuilding capacity. The Philippine Navy has several small floating drydocks and floating cranes, some of which were recently modenized but having additional ones would allow them to be placed in more locations. The Philippines🇵🇭 is the 4th. biggest and largest shipbuilders in the World after the 3-countries of China🇨🇳, South Korea🇰🇷 and Japan🇯🇵. In the recent Asian Defense and Security Exhibition (ADAS), held in Manila from Sept. 25 to 27, 2024, Saab made its presence known by exhibiting a full-scale model of its Gripen E/F, reinforcing its position in the competition and is valued for its maneuverability. Saab's Gripen has already garnered notable interest from the Philippines Armed Forces military procurement authorities that includes the transfer of technological know-how which is very timely in the enactment of the Self-Reliant Defense Program Act. Under the SRDP Act, in-country defense enterprises will enjoy exemption from national internal revenue taxes, (VAT) value-added tax, and customs duties on imports of capital equipment, raw materials, and other such supplies necessary in local production--granted that these supplies are not locally available. A preliminary agreement was signed last year, though the final contract is still under negotiation. More recently, another agreement was signed between the 2 countries, indicating that the Philippines🇵🇭 is seriously considering acquiring 40 units of the Swedish fighter Jas Gripen E. Saab new Jas Gripen E and F model remains a particularly advantageous option for the Philippine Air Force, notably due to its many factors such the relatively low maintenance costs, adaptability to operate from austere bases in an archipelagic topography of the country, ability to meet the operational challenges as to shorter runways which can even used roads, and an immediate delivery timeframe set forth by the (AFP) Armed Forces of the Philippines🇵🇭. The Saab Gripen E has the most flexible weapon systems of all Multi-Role fighter jets. It can carry weapons of all types of missions, from the best arms suppliers worldwide. The Saab Gripen E has ten (10) external hard points, carrying advanced air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons, additional fuel tanks, reconnaissance, targeting and jammer pods. It has a very flexible, efficient & affordable weapons integration. An American Airlines Embraer E175, operating as flight AA4642, was forced to divert to Pittsburgh after a possible lightning strike. These are losses that could have been reduced if Lockheed Martin had not deceived itself and its readers and admirers about the implementation of innovations. This picture is another proof that Lockheed Martin is not doing well with the implementation of innovations and many things remain outside the spotlight. "Don't deceive yourself" - that's what I wrote to Greg Ilmer. I say the same to those who read this comment. I am ready to answer for my negative words by providing arguments and links proving that the corporate culture of Lockheed Martin leaves much to be desired. Too much flattery in the comments. As if there are no shortcomings. This creates the preconditions for maintaining shortcomings, and therefore slowing down the development of the corporation. Who is for this? I think no one. Production hiccups happen. Doesn’t mean that Lockheed Martin is a bad company. They are doing amazing things, but building an advanced fighter is extremely hard. The failure is creating a single point failure. We need another 5th Gen fighter. We need variable mass. We need multiple production lines so when the inevitable happens it doesn’t instantly become a major risk to national security. More OEMs. More variety in tech. More mass.
