📣 Project Update: Swach Sundar Sikanderpur The area under the metro lines had become a dumping ground, with pillars gradually turning into dumping points. The main reason for this was that shopkeepers and households were dumping waste around these pillars. To address this issue, our Saahas team worked closely with the Sikanderpur Market Association and took the following steps: 1. Waste Removal: Removed around 450 kilograms of waste 2. Area Cordon: Cordoned the area with iron mesh and installed iron meshes 3. Beautification: Conducted cleaning, painting, and beautification drives to improve the appearance and prevent further dumping 4. Community Engagement: Motivated market shop owners to plant trees and take ownership of keeping their surroundings clean 5. Monitoring: Started regular monitoring to maintain cleanliness and prevent the area from becoming a dumping ground again. #SwachSundarSikanderpur #CleanAndGreen #SaahasForChange #MetroCleanUp #CommunityPower #SustainableLiving #NoMoreDumping #BeautifySikanderpur #CleanIndiaMission

Growing up in the water-scarce Solapur district of Maharashtra, Abhijit Sathe lived through the harsh realities of water shortages, where a 24-hour water supply was a distant dream. This firsthand experience ignited his passion for water conservation, leading him to found JalSevak India, a company that specialises in greywater recycling systems for households and commercial buildings. JalSevak has developed a six-step process to recycle greywater from sinks and showers for non-potable uses, like watering plants and flushing toilets, reducing reliance on freshwater by up to 40%. With their systems now operating in 12 cities across India, Abhijit's company helps recycle 1.25 lakh litres of greywater daily, contributing significantly to the country’s water conservation efforts. Moreover, JalSevak's systems are 50% more cost-effective than commercially available options, making them a practical and affordable solution for businesses and homeowners. Out of the Box Thinking: Volunteering for Water Harvesting Initiatives 🌱 At Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, I had the privilege of volunteering for an initiative under the Social Responsibility Committee focused on water conservation through innovative rainwater harvesting techniques. Recognized through the "Out of the Box Thinking" event, this experience deepened my understanding of the critical importance of preserving water resources. 💧 Water Harvesting for Sustainability 🌧️ The initiative highlighted rainwater harvesting as an affordable, effective solution to conserve water and replenish groundwater. With growing concerns about future water scarcity, our efforts aimed to promote these methods at the grassroots level, ensuring water security for the future. 🌍 Groundwater Replenishment and Challenges The project addressed the alarming depletion of groundwater and the complexities in implementing harvesting systems. We worked to raise awareness about water scarcity, explored traditional and modern methods, and advocated for policy support to make rainwater harvesting more accessible. 🌿 Impact on Society 🌟 The volunteer work emphasized the power of community action in tackling environmental issues. Through this experience, I realized the need for creative solutions to pressing societal problems, and it has inspired me to continue advocating for sustainable practices to protect our planet's future. 💡🌎 #WaterConservation #RainwaterHarvesting #Sustainability #GroundwaterRecharge #SaveWater #EnvironmentalAwareness #OutOfTheBox #VolunteerForChange

💢October 14th was International #E_Waste Day.To celebrate this day, a wonderful awareness workshop was held on 15/10/24 from 11 am to 12.30 pm at Jeevandan Bhawan, DDA Market, Bidhannagar,Durgapur- 12 🏵️This program was held under the initiative of Durgapur Sub-Divisional Sports and Cultural Clubs Coordination Society and in collaboration with environmentalists Asar Social Impact and India Clean Air Network. 🏵️ This awareness camp aimed to increase the amount of e-waste collection from different areas. 🏵️ 27 volunteer friends along with philanthropists Anup Mitra and Kajal Kongar were present. 🏵️ Electronic waste or e-waste refers to all items of electrical and electronic equipment and their components. The continuous increase in production and consumption of these has a huge impact on the environment and climate. If we don't take proper measures, we will face dire problem with e-waste. Global e-waste could double to 100 million tons or more in the next 30 years. The use of electronics items is directly proportional to human development but we need, e-waste hunt - recover, recycle and revive. 🏵️It is pertinent to note that #e_waste deposit system is in operation at Jibadan Bhawan located in Bidhannagar DDA Market. #SaveEarthSaveNature

Pradeep Kumar RAJAT JATAV Ashvani Chaudhari Ramgarh Tal: A Story of Revival and Challenges A symbol of the natural beauty of Gorakhpur, Ramgarh Tal was last to see any kind of major revival during the tenure of the Yogi Adityanath government. Though stained and totally neglected at one point, resolute efforts were made in cleaning and restoration as part of the holistic plan to give it a new life and make it one of the most sought places, especially having a floating restaurant and green parks. However, once again, waste dumping has rebounded and once again endangered the health of the lake. Encroachments and uncontrolled waste disposal around the lake started to reverse the progress achieved. This is very alarming for one like me, an environmentalist. The present state of Ramgarh Tal is a stunning reminder of how pusillanimous development and inconsiderate waste management practices can undo great environmental achievements. Only strict regulation of waste disposal methods and active participation by the community will secure the future for Ramgarh Tal. Firstly, more serious educational programs have to be in place, stricter enforcement of 'waste laws', and greater accountability for polluters in order to handle waste issues and ensure that other people do not dump things in the lake. It is only through this engagement with the local communities using sustainable practices and regular clean-up drives that the lake can continue to be a thriving ecological place to live and not a place for disposing of human activity. The future of Ramgarh Tal rests on integration and the need to balance development with the responsibility to preserve natural habitats for future generations. #SaveRamgarhTal #ProtectOurLakes #GorakhpurEnvironment #CleanWaterMatters #WasteManagement #SustainableGorakhpur #CommunityAction #EnvironmentalConservation #KeepNatureClean #SaveOurPlanet

Well said Shekar Prabhakar, we take for granted the comfort of not seeing the effects of our wastes, but in the end someone else pays the price for it. As I’m delving deeper in the world of #circularity and #wastemanagement, I can’t help but notice the systematic ignorance towards the people (#wastepickers and impoverished people living near dump sites). Furthermore, little is being done to determine if waste management solutions solve the problem or only solve the problem for the user (regardless if the root problem is solved). In your experience working with brands like Unilever and H&M, what do you see as the biggest hurdles to widespread adoption? To my understanding, circularity means the possibility for economical, social and environmental benefit. And Hasiru Dala Innovations has obviously shown GHG reduction, landfill space savings, opportunities for waste picker entrepreneurs… Do we lack education, technical solutions, awareness… otherwise why would anyone not want to hit the ESG trifecta?
Villager versus urban dweller standoff over landfilling in Bangalore. Watch this video of trucks lined up as villagers didn't allow the dumping of waste. Since Tuesday, July 16th, #Bangalore has been unable to get rid of its waste. Villagers from #Kannuru, the village housing the Mittaganahalli landfill have been protesting against the #dumping of waste. Wouldn’t you if you were the villager who has to deal with unprocessed waste in her backyard that she has not generated? As urban residents, we are famous for the #NIMBY (Not in my backyard) syndrome of refusing to manage waste in a decentralized fashion in our premises or neighborhoods. It is estimated that bulk waste generators (#BGs) generate at least 40% of the daily waste generated in Bangalore. So if you are a bulk waste generator, and have the means, financial and otherwise, to really make a dent in the problem and ensure that over 90% of your waste is responsibly processed and diverted away from landfills - it is a clarion call to rise to and engage a responsible service provider who has assured destinations for further processing. Hasiru Dala Innovations can help you do this seamlessly and professionally. Our over 380 BG clients have not been affected by this protest and have had #uninterrupted services. We equip our #residential and #corporate clients to segregate waste at source, and send further sorted dry waste to #recyclers, wet waste to compressed #biogas and organic manure, and highly minimized reject waste, which is then disposed of in accordance with government regulations. #Contact us at 9742112362 or email us at info@hasirudalainnovations.com to make a difference to the villagers of #Kannuru by not having to receive at least your waste.
