That's how UN was born, as a result of terrible wars. Should we make it an institution that has for purpose to alleviate global differences? As in times of war, in the times of crisis too, we must find common ways of entendment. #UN #Europe #Democracy #Globalism

WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom, AND FOR THESE ENDS to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbors, and to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples, HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS. Accordingly, our respective Governments, through representatives assembled in the city of San Francisco, who have exhibited their full powers found to be in good and due form, have agreed to the present Charter of the United Nations and do hereby establish an international organization to be known as the United Nations. Read this preamble of the United Nations charter with words like dignity, respect, equal rights, peace. And compare the spirit of this wise document with the Habitus of the candidate for the president of the United States of the Republican Party.

79 Years of the United Nations Charter – A Legacy of Peace and Human Rights, but Where Are We Now? As I reflect on this historic manuscript, the founding ideals of the United Nations *peace, prosperity, and human rights* seem distant from the grim realities unfolding before our eyes. From Gaza to Lebanon, we witness daily horrors: innocent lives bombarded, denied access to aid, homes destroyed, and families torn apart. The atrocities amount to nothing less than genocide, as entire communities are systematically wiped out and survivors subjected to unimaginable torture in the name of INVESTIGATION. The founding nations, who once vowed to protect human dignity, seem to be watching from the sidelines. Have we forgotten why this institution was created in the first place? Why do the principles of the United Nations International Criminal Court remain unimplemented, as war crimes go unchecked? The call for justice rings louder than ever. We must ask ourselves: Is the international community truly living up to the Charter's promises, or are we allowing these sacred words to fade into insignificance?

Time to reflect and time to reform…,

A paragraph in this charter states that one of the goals of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security however we still see some nations today that are at war with each other. First it was the conflict between Israel and Gaza then it became Israel and Palestine then Israel and Lebanon then we saw Russia vs Ukraine and others. What is the United Nations doing to promote international peace as regards these issues? The United Nations needs to do better in upholding the provisions of it's charter .The United Nations Secretary General at the UN General Assembly only called for a ceasefire . Calling for a ceasefire alone may not help. talk is cheap. The United Nations Secretary General needs to take action now!!!! #enoughisenough #ceasefire
