🚀 Exciting news! USSF Space Delta 8 has selected our beloved **Space Cockpit** (http://spacecockpit.space) for operational use. Delta-8 plays a critical role in military operations, supporting U.S. strategic flights with protected SATCOM and the GPS constellation. We're proud to be part of this mission! A huge thanks to the US Space Command's JCO program for being exceptional partners to work with on this journey. 🌌 Read more about the collaboration here: https://lnkd.in/g7xFTUP5 #SpaceOperations #SpaceCockpit #USSF #SaberAstronautics #InnovationInSpace #SpaceSituationalAwareness

It is noteworthy that the Space Development Agency (SDA) is working in close collaboration with Norway to assess space implementations of Link 16, a military tactical data link designed to provide warfighters operating on land, air & sea with secure, anti-jam, networked communications. First introduced in the 1970s to support air interdiction missions during the Cold War, Link 16 allows U.S. and coalition forces operating at the tactical edge to share mission-critical data in real time across the battlespace. Link 16 tactical data links are integrated on board aircraft, ground vehicles, surface vessels, operational centers and bases, as well as employed by dismounted ground warfighters across the armed forces of ~50 countries. Interestingly, Link 16 networks operate in a very large frequency band dedicated to position/location (like GPS), and not communications. This frequency spectrum authorization (globally supported by the ~50 participating nations) is the bedrock that ensures the enduring nature of Link 16 as the US/allied tactical network, as there is no other available frequency spectrum to support a replacement/alternative tactical network. As satellite and terrestrial networks converge, these spectrum implications bear watching. SDA is moving fast, yet there remains much to do. 👍👍

The Space Development Agency is hoping to lean on the commercial space sector for ground equipment needed to operate its future tranches of missile warning and communications satellites. SDA is charged with deploying the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) — envisioned as a constellation of satellites in low-Earth orbit that provide capabilities to U.S. military forces. The architecture represents a pivot at the Defense Department in its space strategy, which has historically relied on a few large, exquisite satellites stationed in high orbits to perform missions like GPS and satcom. https://lnkd.in/ehsUtP33

As the United States Space Force works to address adversary capabilities that threaten the United States’ military satellites in orbit, outgoing Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall III warns that the service needs to develop and field technology at a faster pace. “The place where I think we should be moving faster is counterspace. We need to protect the joint force from the targeting and sensing that China, in particular, is fielding now,” Kendall said Thursday during a webinar hosted by the Mitchell Institute. “And we need more effective and efficient ways of sending a single interceptor against a single satellite.” Read more from DefenseScoop https://lnkd.in/eqxivrAm
