We've made significant strides in addressing gender parity in the workplace, but there's always more to be done. The 2023 World Economic Forum Global Gender Gap Report (surveying 146 countries) revealed that only 3 in 10 senior leadership roles were filled by women despite them making up close to 42% of the workforce. If you're interested in finding out more about what companies are doing to improve diversity and representation in the workplace, join us at Inclusive Careers Fair 2024 on 22nd June at WeWork, 21 Collyer Quay. Founder & CEO | Top 20 BioPharma LGBTQ+ Leader | Top LinkedIn LGBTQ+ Voice | Humanizing Healthcare and Workplaces
Your professional experience is impressive, but we can only offer you an administrative assistant, case intake associate, or program coordinator position. These responses indirectly imply that they cannot offer the same Senior Director or above role that I had before my transition. This is the typical feedback I receive when attending job fairs or supplier events, even from companies with a 100% HRC Corporate Equality Index (CEI) rating and rainbow flags. Finding employment in the public, private, or nonprofit sector as a member of the LGBTQ+ community can be challenging. The difficulty increases if you are a queer, trans person of color with disabilities and a veteran. Having faced these challenges, I decided to take action rather than just complain, creating ripples of change. For the first time, I am working with the Workforce Development Board, Human Service Agency, and Diversity Collective—a local nonprofit in our county—to organize a Pride job fair. At this event, employers will be educated on understanding the correct pronouns, authentic names, and gender markers. I will also offer continuous education to ensure retention even after hiring. If you know any job seekers in Ventura or Santa Barbara County, please pass on this link to them: [Pride Career Fair](https://lnkd.in/gZC3zwPb). #linkedintopvoices #allies #allyship #changemakers #diversityequityinclusion #diversity #diversityequityandinclusion #hrconsulting #hr #mentalhealth #hrtech #Bathroom2Boardroom #diversityandinclusion #neurodiversity #hradvice #hrrecruiter #hrrecruitment #leadership #humanresources #deib #lgbtq #transgender #genderdiverse #gendernonbinary #humanrights #ceo #ceos #leadership #leaders #healthcare #healthequity #diversityinclinicaltrials #genderequity #racialequity

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly one in ten LGBTQ+ individuals faced unemployment, compared to one in twenty non-LGBTQ+ individuals. However, during the pandemic, the situation worsened: 22% of LGBTQ+ adults and 24% of LGBTQ+ adults of color experienced unemployment. These disparities highlight the need for continued efforts to create inclusive workplaces and address economic inequities within the LGBTQ+ community.

From being bullied to being empowered, read the story of Ramkrishna Sinha's journey of resilience to him creating a larger change in the #workplace ecosystem. 🌈 💪 His story reminds us why 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 and the need of the hour. No one should face discrimination for being their authentic self. “One day in class 10 as I took my seat, the entire room suddenly erupted in laughter. When I turned around, I saw someone had written ‘Lady’ at the back of my chair. The teachers also saw it, but nobody said a word. Growing up in Jamshedpur wasn't easy. I sensed something different about myself and my feelings but I was unaware of what these were, and when I looked around, I couldn’t find anyone to share what I was going through. The names they called me – ‘Chhakka,’ ‘Hijra’ – just because I didn't fit under the definition of an ideal ‘boy.’ I couldn't wait to get out of school, out of that town. College, I hoped, would be different. But the bullies followed me. The continuous taunts made me build a fortress around myself and at last all that mattered were good grades and a dream job, where I naively thought, "At least workplace mein toh mein safe rahunga." If only I'd known then how wrong I was. The harassment followed me there as well and the name calling, hushed whispers about how I looked never stopped. A few of my work buddies didn’t hesitate to call me ‘Bobby Darling’ as well. I'd never felt so alone, so broken. But I was fed up with hiding who I was. I was almost 24 when I decided, “I have to tell my parents now.” But even at home, I was brushed off. My parents said, ‘Don't worry, it's just a phase. Get married, everything will be fine.’ I knew then that things wouldn't change unless I did something about it. You know that famous quote, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world.’ I decided to become that change. So, in 2017, I co-founded Pride Circle where we're all about making workplaces and schools safer for LGBTQ+ folks. We do training, help people find jobs, create a marketplace for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, and so much more to make the workplace & educational spaces more inclusive. And in 2019, we even organized Asia's biggest LGBTQ+ conference and job fair. One of the candidates at the fair told me, “Sir mein bhaag ke aaya hoon yahan, kyon ki agar mein ghar ruk jaata toh meri zabardasti shaadi karwa dete, aur ab tak mere 2 bacche bhi hote”. People still ask, "Why talk about this at work?" But if they could see the impact, the lives changed...they will never ask me such questions again. Things have gotten better for me, but so much LGBTQ+ harassment still goes unnoticed and unreported at workplaces and otherwise. People are afraid to speak up. That's why my team and I keep working to create workplaces where being queer isn't a barrier to a fulfilling life. Because no matter who you love or how you identify, you should be able to work where you dream and live the life you want.” Featuring: Ramkrishna Sinha Written by: Ritvik Mawkin #MondayMotivationwithHOB

I coach business executives to optimize their leadership abilities and manage their work and personal lives without losing their minds.
Are you 𝗧𝗛𝗘 leader of a business, or a leader inside a business? Are you wondering what you can do to show your LGBTQIA+ employees support during this very important month? Here’s how you can make a real difference:: 1. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗟𝗚𝗕𝗧𝗤𝗜𝗔+ 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆: Partner with LGBTQIA+ organizations and attend diversity-focused job fairs. Ensure your hiring practices reflect and celebrate diversity. This is not difficult. 2. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀. Wish them a happy Pride through sincere, one-on-one conversations. Ditch the basic tropes. Newsletters? Not enough. Emails? Lazy. Show real support. 3. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻. Obviously, implement strong non-discrimination policies, inclusive benefits, and diversity trai𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 . Do better by making every month Pride Month, or Black History Month. 𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘. 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. They have families. Lives. If you don't create a sense of beloning for all, you'll lose them. Your business will suffer. 4. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗚𝗕𝗧𝗤𝗜𝗔+ 𝗘𝗥𝗚𝘀. Support and resource LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Groups. These groups are vital for fostering connection and advocating for positive change. It's easy to make this a 'tick the box' exercise. If you really want it to matter, 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗨𝗣. Go to the meetings (CEO, C-anything) and walk the walk. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I challenge you to step up. 🌈 Support LGBTQIA+ Employees Year-Round: Take Action Now! 🌈 #PrideMonth #LGBTQIA #Inclusion #Diversity #Leadership
