I fully appreciate that not everyone gets as excited about recycling as I do🤷♀️ However, seeing the latest advances in sorting technology, we should all have confidence that Australia is on positive path to true sustainability and everyone can do their bit; ✅Familarise yourself about what can go your recycling bin- call your local council if you have questions ✅Look at the back label/bottom of containers- food & beverage packaging have really clear recycling logos/infographs ✅Become a composter- either via your own home compost bin or making sure any green waste goes in the green bin ✅Purchase goods and services with intent- most companies have ESG statements on have websites ✅Seek additional resources Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) (sidenote- you would be surprised/horrified about the things that end up in a recycling bin that shouldn’t be there🙄 APR Kerbside 👏 #SIGforbetter #recycling #pathtosustainability #reduceyourcarbonfootprint Theodore Tran Roy MacApagal Lyndon Turner Shalina Matharu

Seriously? From Material Focus research in March 2024.... ▶ Since 2023 vape producers and retailers have not increased their compliance with environmental regulations despite media and political spotlight. ▶ Without immediate action on retailer takeback and recycling at least a quarter of a billion single-use vapes will get thrown away if there is a twelve month lead into a disposable vape ban. ▶ Over 90% of vape producers and 90% retailers are not fulfilling their statutory obligations to provide and pay for takeback and recycling for vapes. ▶ Vape drop off points were available in 33% of 57 specialist vape retailers. ▶ However, high street brands and convenience stores provided very little or zero recycling drop-off points for vapes. ▶ Sales of disposable single-use vapes are now at least 360 million per year. For all the disposable single-use vapes sold in the UK this would be equivalent to providing the lithium in the batteries for over 6,700 electric vehicles in the UK. ▶ The cost of recycling all the disposable single-use vapes bought in the UK could be up to £200 million per annum if done properly. I am happy to share that TOMRA has acquired 80% of the shares in c-trace GmbH. The German leader in digital waste management solutions offers advanced solutions that combine software and hardware modules to digitize and improve the process for waste management operations. ♻ 📊 We are very enthusiastic about joining forces with c-trace. This allows TOMRA to broaden our offering in the waste management and recycling space and adds new digitalization capabilities across the recycling value chain. Combining TOMRA’s solutions and customer base with c-trace, we can drive innovation and unlock new markets opportunities. Over the next years, our priority will be to expand c-trace’s international presence by utilizing TOMRA’s global footprint. Ultimately, our common ambition is to increase collection and recycling rates – turning more waste into valuable resources – by shaping tomorrow’s recycling infrastructure. The circular economy relies on resuse, recycling and innovative business models extending product life cycles, thereby helping to conserve resources, protect the environment, and mitigate climate change. At the same time, it supports companies increasing their sustainability, efficiency and competitiveness. The topic of circular economy will take centerstage at the Circular Valley Convention taking place from 12-13 March 2025 at Areal Bohler in Dusseldorf. From the organiser of trade fairs such as K, interpack and drupa, the Circular Valley Convention is a new trade fair format organised by Messe Dusseldorf in cooperation with the non-profit Circular Valley Foundation and with scientific support from the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental Safety, and Energy Technology called UMSICHT. The Convention will look at the circular economy from a holistic perspective across industries and materials; all phases of the circular economy from smart circular design to the reuse and further utilisation of products.
