Namma Yatri was the first to introduce subscription based pricing model in ride hailing space. Rapido copied that soon, launched aggressively in cab and auto space and today they are doing almost the same number of rides in a quarter as they did in entire FY23. Highest in number of rides among all ride hailing players and catching up super fast in GOV. Namma Yatri brought in innovation but lacked distribution. Rapido had distribution already and added innovation. As Andreessen Horowitz once wrote, “The battle between every startup and incumbent comes down to whether the startup gets distribution before the incumbent gets innovation.” Rapido has both now and would likely be the biggest player soon.
